Heya, i just played a game (for the first time in a few months) with like a few old heads , 3-4 people around my age (it's 15), and a lotta kids. After the game i got really mad blisters on my foot which i expressed concern on a post i made yesterday, and the next day after i woke up my muscles sored like i couldn't even run anymore... I was thinking, it most likely have to do with training, but the same thing always happen after my games even if i'm in shape or not, the back of my legs sore, my shins sore, and my upper leg is painful when i try to massage it.

Is there any type of training to do other than running? because I've even ran track to practice for my highschool season, and it's all the same after my pick up games.

you're getting at the age where your body can't just go play and be ready. you need to do a warm up and a cool down. it helps so much. the warm up should include stretching and moving around a bit. you shouldn't have a ball at this point, only after you stretch.

after you plaY, do a little light jogging and then stretch again.

there are stretches you can do for all the body parts you complained about and you should hold each stretch for a minumum of 10 seconds (20 seconds would be much better though!) the one part that you complained about that i don't know too much about is your shins. either they are bruised on the bone (which means you just have to ice it up) or you could have shin splints (not sure though but i know you still need ice). if you don't know any stretches for a body part, just ask away

if your upper leg pain is up in your groin, i suggest sliding shorts. i messed up a muscle in my groin and they help a lot

its called being out of shape. even if you believe your inshape, if your muscles hurt that bad after a game you arent in shape. have you tried weight training - squats, lunges, better stretching

What kind of running and how much? This is definitely the result of being badly out of shape.

running? i do distance track last winter , doing like sets of 400s or 600s or 800s or 1000s, etc. During that we didn't practice on a lot of sprints, and that's what i do most during games, but being a midfielder my friend told me distance track is exactly what i need to keep in shape. I haven't don't ne right now ( i stopped working out with them since the end of school, or june), mostly working out, sit ups, push ups , and holding my leg 2-3 inches up high for like 2-3 minutes, weights, and i do these every night. Oh and when i mean shins, it's no shinnys, it's this muscle on the side that kind of protrudes to the outside of the shins. It's like when you tighten ur moscles, you can feel this muscle group like right next to the bone...

I guess i AM out of shape...

when i tried to run again the next day, i meant that i was chasing after a bus to my job lol :D

try interval sprints, uphill runs, etc.

Also make sure your running form is right. I agree with To_Much069 that you should get a trainer or at least someone knowledgable in sports therapy or physiology to help you out.

My opinion is also pretty credible since I play division III college soccer :D

Nice to see lots of possitive comments from people here "your out of shape" real help, Dont worry mate like you said it was your first game in a while football is a high movement sport so your bound to find a few tight muscles hear and there, the aching is simply your body pointing out that you pushed yourself a lot more than it was used too. Just means you need to do a good warm up loosen up those tight muscles find a good routine to keep you flexible mensioned this site before www.netfit.co.uk, has a few things to find those muscles you might have missed. Your at the age that your loosing your flexability so just got to refresh it a bit.

Just remember being sore is a good thing means you pushed yourself beyond your limit. Now you just have to push the limit further as you go along.

Just do some dynamic stretching, static stretching doesnt tend to prepare you aswell.
