In light of what seems to be the end of the Andrade hopes for LFC, who should the Reds shoot for now (be real now)? I say Oguchi Onyewu of Standard Liege. A big, strong American International who can move forward. Respectable speed, and young, too. Really puts his mark on games and would make a great pairing with Whitbread for the future, not to mention a great anvil for the midfield hammer we are building. Hugely impressive when I have seen him.
Come on Rafa make it happen.

As a US based 'Pool fan, I'd love to see Gooch in red.But really that doesn't fill the need of an experienced, seasoned CB to cover Sami and Jamie.It seems Rafa wants someone to rotate in without losing much quality and Gooch isn't there-yet.Actually O'Shea would be a great fit with his versatility and I would be all for that move at a reasonable price.Don't think SAF would sell him to a rival club though.

You know what they say, experience is expensive. Liverpool can't seem to get any of the proven expreienced players they have tried for yet, so I say go for class. Few would argue Onyewu is anything other than that. Maybe I'm just terrified of another Pellegrino-type signing that getts us little except a rest day for Hyppia.
O'Shea never really impressed me to be honest. To me he is a good utility player, but one that never seems to excell at anything. Rafa likes utility men, but I fear he might be too slow to truly improve our defense.
{Remember that Traore is a true CB and could slot in well if he gets these injuries out of the way.}

traore is going to play mostly cb imo, with risse and warnock sharing the left. i just say that becouse it looks to me like warnock has earned some second team minutes. we still need more cover still though. and why oh why nary a word from rafa all summer about cover for finnan? i surmise he thinks barragan and josemi can do it.
hope so. (swallows hard).
O'shea would be an ok depth guy addition but just ive been hoping for a real tough young stopper, melito style.

Hose me really has done nothing to instill confidence-at least not with the fans.But I think you are right about Rafa's thoughts.

Me too, but they don't appear to be available.
