The last of the "Big Three", Peter Jennings of ABC News, died from cancer earlier in the week.

Who replaces him?

I don't know. All that time I could use watching network TV is taken over by reading BigSoccer.

Is this a question of who we think it will be or who we think it should be?

Will - Gibson will get it.

Should - Anyone who watches Countdown with Keith Olbermann on a regular basis knows that it's the best cable news show (and last night was no exception - their Jennings segments were the best of any network's, including ABC's). It's basically a traditional newscast, but Olbermann's style is unique enough to bring a fresh spin to things. He's a superb writer and an engaging on-air personality.

He's probably not a big enough name, but Olbermann deserves a shot at an anchor chair.

May I make a nomination for a completely CGI 20 years younger Peter Jennings?

Me too.

However, I like Charles Gibson, when he's filled in.

Yeha, I agree. I think he has a cool voice too.

1. They'll probably have a reality show in which people vote for the new anchor.

2. This has worked perfectly for other things in the past, and it has already provided us with an obvious choice for the new anchor.
