View Full Version : Nostalgia at Highbury

The whisper is that we are going to get a marching band at half-time and a bloke in the crowd selling peanuts!!!
"PEANUTTTTTTSSSSSSSSS! PEANUTTTTTTSSSSS - TANNER A BAG!!!!!"
and a parade of ex-players at the Newcastle game.
I say take the seats out of the North Bank for the last year! We'll all wear long white butchers coats and tie our scarves around our wrists. Or all have rattles and rosettes!
And sing the old songs:
"They call him Marinello! Oh yeah!"
Bertie Mee said to Bill Shankly
Have you heard of the North Bank, Highbury?
And the Shanks said Yessssssss!
They're the greatest and the best
and they all support The Arsenal!
I'm getting all mopey already! What chance I can nick my seat at the last game!

Maybe they'll bring back the two pint bucket of beer in the Lower West circa 1985.
Forget about the seat, I've got my eye on the plasma screens and my mate has his on the Bose speakers.
Roll on Sunday. If they bring back the police band at half-time will Alex Morgan still be singing with them?
Tick tock we are the mighty clock!
:D

Have you got a little spade to get your bit of turf though ?

I'm starting to think about Sunday. The last time I go to the first game of the season at Highbury. Get there early and take my last slow walk up to the seats. Gradually taking in the colours - blue skies, red seats and the glorious green of the Highbury pitch!
Those were the days my friend
We took the Stretford End
We took The Kop and Tottenham's Park Lane too!
We lived the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we are Arsenal
And sure to win the league

I remember Alex morgan dropping the Batton at half time, when he tried again the crowed slaughtered him with cries of "What a load of rubbish" :)
As for a little spade to dig a bit of turf, we might need a bigger spade to find Constable Alex morgan :)
I'd walk a million miles, for one of your goals
Jon sammels.
ohoo Sammels, Sammels,
I'd walk a million miles, for one of your goals, Jon Sammels

"Nostalgia at HIghbury"? Is that the new Brazilian that A.W. is trying to sign? :D
Ah the memories. My father used to be an artist/signwriter, and painted a big Arsenal crest on the back of my white butcher's coat. Everyone used to comment on that, especially with the gold lettering.
Alex Morgan, the Welsh copper, and the peanut guy coming through the crowd.
A living "Fever Pitch". But I never got to meet Jon Sammels to tell him to "Sod off to Sperz"!

I just know I'm going to shed a tear this season, possibly today, I'm going to check out the bolts on my seat today, I need to know what tools I'm going to need at the last game, and what type of bracket I'm going to need to mount it in the garden.

I wonder if Arsenal will have an auction after they close Highbury for the final time, where they'll sell seats and other items from the stadium? I know they did that when Three Rivers Stadium and the Montreal Forum closed. My buddy from Montreal told me a story last night about how Patrick Roy outbid Maurice Richard for the chair Richard had sat in in the Forum.

Sorry about that. Let's start with this one.
"We hate Dave Sexton and we hate The Shed,
We'll fight Tottenham Hotspur until we're dead,
We don't do a wiggle and we don't give a w**k,
'Cos we are the Arsenal, North Bank!"
"We all live in a red submarine, a red submarine, a red submarine...."
"My old man, said be a Tottenham fan, I said, "I don't think that's a good idea....."!!!!!!!!!! ;)

Just got back from the game and I've been on the piss with Charlie George, John Radford, Eddie Kelly, Peter Marinello, Peter Simpson in the Woodbine.
They just turned up and had a beer or four with "their kind of people".

I can't remember if it was an official Arsenal one or the Gooner or someone, but they're obviously thinking about it already. After paying for the seat for ten years, I would have thought the least they can do is give it to me for nothing!

Yeah got to say I would hope we do get the opportunity to get our seats either by paying or for free. I think most people would pay a score so the club could make a nice healthy sum on that amount. Not quite sure where I would be able to put it though!!!!

How could we better Arsenal? A day with "Singer" and Arsenal players on the piss from the "old school" , but still playing football like we are now under the Wenger era. What could be better than that?
