I'm trying out for an ODP this Sat/Sun, and I've been training hard all summer for this. I've gotten to the point where now when I go outside to juggle, practice moves, and shots I run out of things to do because I've got it down. Other than those things I've listed above, are there anymore drills/tips that I can try in this week before tryouts? I've a huge wooden shed in my backyard I kick the ball at and practice my shots, so if you've got any shooting/passing tips I'd really appreciate them.
Also, I've recently gotten to the point where I can finally juggle over 100 juggles using just my feet and no knees. Currently, I don't have anyone to compare that to, so what's your highest?
Thanks,
Cristi

My juggling record is 6,651(seriously) , i always juggle for at least an hr a day and it seems to help tremendously. If u have regular juggling down, u might want to try juggling with no spin. Good luck with ODP

the best thing to do in order to get ready is play. if thats not an option then be the fitest guy at the tryout. sometimes even if you arent the most skilled but you can run forever, coaches will take you. look at frankie heyduk.
its funny how people brag about how much they can juggle. those guys are usually the worst players.

Haha, "fitest guy at the tryout"... I'm a girl... Thanks for the advice though!

To be perfectly honest I'd say get games in. There's only so much you can do with juggling and your own drills. I feel my first few games of the season are poor but quickly pick up so I try to make sure those games aren't for the actual teams I play for (for example I played for the company my brother works for last week).

i think a person w/ 500 juggles could easliy have as good of 1st touch as a guy w/ 3000... I mean... whats the difference after #1??

i've known guys that were amazing shooters and had a stunning first touch, but they sucked at juggling. don't put a lot of hype in juggling. it helps you a lot, but you don't have to be great at it to be good.

work on setting up cones and things, and dribbling to the cone, taking a small touch and work off getting shots off, accurate, in unorthodox positions, take small touches to the left or right of a cone and work on taking a shot quickly after that last touch. Also try setting up gates you dribble through( two cones making a goal or gate), and work on dribbling in zig zags and shooting out of that. Also, try, if you have a kickback goal, taking a shirt or something, and fitting it into an area of the goal, then practice hitting that target with a bent shot, a power shot, and using both feet to do so. Also, you can do conditioning drills to get your legs fit without weights. try 2x 20 speed squats, feet shoulder width, going down until thighs parallel, then thrusting upwards back to upright position, then do 2x 20 squat jumps, those will help your jumping ability, as well as strengthen your legs overall.

Ok, I'll try the cone drills and shooting. Yea, the squat jumps and explosive squats are really helpful, I've been doing them all summer plus some other exercises. Thanks a bunch for the help!

The highest i ever counted was 175, and that was on my head alone, and when i was in the 7th grade, now days i just go out and listen to my mp3s and juggle for about an hour. I would say that i can get around 100 to 200 using feet thighs shoulders chest and my head when juggling, i just lose interest in simply juggling tho, so i like to do volleys off walls and stuff like that just to liven up my training...
I think that i have realized that its not how many juggles you get before the ball hits the ground, its how many juggles you get period. I think its better to go out and get 5000 juggles and drop the ball about every 20 to 50 juggles, than it is to just go out and do 1000 straight juggles...
I'd also say that its important to split your training on the ball with your physical training, i play for about an hour everyday on my own, do somewhere between 1000 and 2000 crunches, about 200 push ups, and run 3 laps around my block (so 3.6 miles total). I try to keep that routine about 5 days a week, b/c it gives me all around training, but thats in the off season.

Yea, i do similar ab workouts and arm strengthening too. I jog around my block with my sis occasionally, but mainly for my leg workout I do quad and calf workouts. Thanks for the great advice!

Right now it's offseason for me, too, but I also try not only stay in shape but improve as well. I play 2 pick-up games a week on Wednesday and Sunday to work on my creativity, passing and communicational skills. beside that I spend 5-6 days a week practicing on my own (shooting, dribbling, faking, ball control, juggling) for about 2 - 2.5 hours a day. Then I jog about 7-8 km at night (kinda scary, because many streets are unlit and we have LOADS of black bears and skunks here ;) ) and do a strength training at my home gym.
