Hello!
At the moment I’m writing a paper in one of my classes about football in diffrent countries. This might seem a bit strange but I would like to know what peaple in your country eat and drink when you go and watch a footballmatch? By this I mean at the areana, before the match and in the break. I figure that you don’t have to live in the county of the team you are supporting, but hopefully there are someone in here who knows. Hope you can help me out.

To answear my own question, here in Sweden we eat hotdogs and drink beer.

During the game: a thermo-pot of tea or coffee :) / no food

In the break/before: beer (only Pils) / the "german hotdog" Thuringian frying sausage (Thüringer Rostbratwurst) with a bread roll.

Actually I don't buy food or drinks in the stadium because I'm a poot student without money and because I hate standing in lines.

But I have no problems with other people buying me something of course! :D

During the break I usually drink Apfelschorle (mixture of apple juice and mineral water ) and eat a Thüringer Bratwurst.

I know in Germany, it truly depends on what part of the country you are in. Most places have some type of Bratwurst, but I know in Dortmund, outside the stadium, you can get the most delicious ham sandwich. In the Westfalenstadion, you can get a bratwurst and some type of "Knockwurst", along with Pizza.

In Kaiserslautern, they are known for their "Frikadelle" (Seasoned Beef Pattie). They also have bratwurst, but when you go there, you just have to have the Frikadelle.

The best bratwurst I've had was in two places. One place was of course Nuernberg and believe it or not, Chemnitz!

As far as "What do you eat at football matches?", I only eat if I'm already drunk. Other than that, I'm so into the match, I usually don't eat or drink during it. I'll eat and drink afterwards.

and what kidn of beer depends also: Some stadiums only allow non-alcoholic beer or light beer with less than 5%, but most do with the real stuff ;-)
Most areas sell Pils, but some may also have local beers like wheat beer in bavaria and Kölsch in and near Cologne.
Popular is also Alsterwasser (Northern Germany) or Radler (Southern germany): beer (preferrably Pils) with sprite.
You can buy soft drinks (Coke, Fanta, Sprite) also of course, and Apfelschorle, and water, bus usually the water sucks because it is the Coca Cola brand, Bonaqua and that just tastes terribly.
In the winter time very popular is Glühwein (=glowing wine: a (temperature) hot kind of fruity wine with a bit of Schnapps in it) to get you warm.
And of course you can buy slizes of pizza, too, but Wurst is just more popular.
Maybe at some places you can even get Fischbrötchen (a kind of fishy Hamburger) or Döner Kebap.

plus this propably belongs to the german general board

Whenever I'm over in Germany and make it to a Bayern match, I usually buy a Bratwurst outside the stadium (cheaper) and at the break get an Apfelschorle and a Pretzel.
