I'v got a problem with my instep shooting. My shot is weak and it always seems to go to the left.
Thanks for your replies.

I'm assuming ur right footed? When u kick it, follow through the ball FORWARD instead of letting it go to the left. Hopefully this works for u!

Try to land on your kicking foot. Somehow this adds power.

Have you ever watched really closely how for example R. Carlos lands on his kicking foot after a shot on the run. I do this too and it adds a tremendous amount of power if you do it correctly. So kinda stupid comment.

and keep your foot locked.
This is one of the main problems for me I cant keep my ankle/ foot locked.
Is there any technique or way in doing this?

Just focus on it when taking your shot, really try to keep it locked, and you'll get it.

Key thing that helped me with power in my shooting was snapping my leg below my knee as I struck the ball. I never realized that I was trying to use too much power from my hips before that. Now I can put some good hard pace on a ball regardless of if I've taken a few steps or just one.

Have you ever seen Roberto Carlos shoot with the inside of his foot? I havent.

yea those power shots by Roberto Carlos are done with either the lace part or the outside part of the foot. during follow through, both his legs are above the ground, and he lands on his kicking foot first.
About locking your foot thing, when you're practicing shots don't even think about putting power in it. just pick a spot and kick the ball as if you were pushing it into that spot. it'll help you remember to lock your foot. after a while you'll get used to it and power will come naturally.

once you get used to locking your foot you easily notice the improvement. locking your foot is key for power.

Again I will ask you, have you ever seen Roberto Carlos shoot with his instep? Laces and outside of the foot are NOT instep. For normal power shots, I agree with you, but that has nothing to do with shooting with the inside of your foot.

He means the kid has a problem with his instep shot, not his regular shot. And he needs tips on his instep. And that what ur observing aobut RCarlos only works with a lace shot.

I KNOW R CARLOS POWERSHOT DOES NOT INVOLVE INSTEP! WHICH IS WHY I SAID HE USES HIS LACE OR OUTSIDE OF THE FOOT!
I was just trying to correct nvan_football by explaining that what he observed from R. Carlos as instep shooting was NOT an instep shooting, since the only comment astabooty made to nvan_football was just a sarcastic statement. (and later on, to me. even though I was agreeing with him. man, what a day. )
And on the next paragraph I clearly explained to Kimsuyun how I trained to lock my foot when kicking with my instep. He needed tips on his instep and I gave him a tip
jeez is it me or does no one understanda englisha

Semantics? I have always referred to the laces as the "instep" - terminology for me is inside (accuracy), outside (deception) and instep (power). If even I am really stepping into one, then I do land on the kicking foot like nvan.

The same for me. I was always told that instep=laces.

Simply, instep is the region of your foot where the predator elements are located on the Predator Mania. (not Pulse because that one's got elements everywhere...)
By lace, what I mean is the very top of your foot, right below the tongue of regular soccer shoes. it's the part that you use when you kick the ball with no angle. when used properly, it'll get you that long, powerful straight drive.
Inside of your foot is where your inside arch is.
