This WishHoustonHAdATeam is a judgmental douche bag, and just fulfills the stereotype of a brash, ignorant texan.
While Aulas may be foolish in refusing to sell, he's not a coward, nor is he a douche bag.

Is he a buddy of yours? Maybe you know better. Cuz no matter what nationality he is he seems like a bit of a douchebag to me. JMHO.

Lyon just smacked themselves in the face. Chelsea don't need him all that much. You'll just pick him up next year for half the price.

What? Someone Abramovich can't just buy? What an outrage! I think you Chelsea supporters are a bit touchy. Just because you have money doesn't mean you deserve every player you want. I applaud Lyon. Why should they sell if they don't want to? They have every right to hold out for the stated price. Get off your high horse.

Half the price? With the WC coming, I think his price will go up, not down.

Douchebags look less like douchebags when they actually know what they're talking about. Such as, for example, the fact that Essien can get out of his contract next season for 17M.
You'd know that.
But you're a douchebag.

Sure, by competing for their 5th league championship in a row and for the champions league is a poor decision.

Ahh, another one. I guess it comes with being champions - all the morons want to visit your boards. I'll live with that tradeoff, I suppose. In a few years they'll be buying our shirts too.

True but with the 30 mill they'd have recieved, an adequate replacement could have been bought with money to spare. Longer term it would have been good business for them to sell now imo.

I should have stated that earlier. That's what I meant RE: the half the price comment. Well not quite half but close enough.

and they also have a player who basically doesnt want to play for them anymore. Essien was desperate to join Chelsea and has refused to play another game for Lyon.

I dont know if Aulas is really smart or really insane but he does have balls to stand up to Chelsea when very few others would. Plus these quotes by him just flat out rule.
"England has the Olympics but Chelsea will not get Michael Essien."
"In my dream, I see him scoring a header in the Champions League final at the Stade de France against Chelsea, and I see him winning the Ballon d'Or."

Lyon want to be in this years Champions League final. Thats all they care about. They know without Essien it will be very difficult to make it. They could care less if they lose him next year and only get 17 million for him. Its all about THIS YEAR for them and winning the Champions League in thieir own country.

Point taken. He is still a bit of a douche bad though... ;)he's a douchebag, but he's our douchebag, and we love him. outside of lyon, every football fan in france thinks he's a clown (except guy roux, who thought he was great)... a clown that brought us from second division to the CL with less money than OM or PSG have spent going backwards.
True but with the 30 mill they'd have recieved, an adequate replacement could have been bought with money to spare. Longer term it would have been good business for them to sell now imo.that was my position for a long time. the problem is there is no adequate replacement out there. at least not one that will sign to play in france for OL, the rodney dangerfield of football.
OL can handle the long term, they have among the best youth and scouting organizations in europe. it's this year that they can make history, they have to be a little zany and grab that chance.
will essien play great football for OL this year? mebbe, mebbe not. but if they sell him, than it's just not.
