Saw this today and it was a nice read. Sorry to hear that Jesper's had persistent knee troubles. At least he played/plays for a good team in a good area for his skill level. Djurgarten are good and right in the center of Stockholm - very wonderufl place to be six months out of the year lol. I can't tell from the piece - does he still play for Djuragarten?

He joined Djurgardens in 03/04, but I lost track of him. He isn't listed in their current squad and I can't find him anywhere else, so I would assume he was forced to retire. From memory he definitely played around 8 game and I think he scored at least once.

He went from us to Everton, then to Charlton and finally to Djurgårdens IF.

From www.uefa.com and their preview of the Allsvenskan 2005, 25 march 2005:

Blomqvist future bleak
Dethroned champions Djurgårdens IF are striving to build a side that can once again threaten Sweden's top teams. They have already signed former French international Ibrahim Ba, Feliciano Magro and Jones Kusi-Asare, while sports director Kjell Jonevret has also handed a trial to Cameroon Under-21 player Bougha Logha noe Stephane. However, former Manchester United FC winger Jesper Blomqvist, who has suffered with injury, and Samuel Wowoah do not seem to be part of the first-team picture.

Jesper Blomqvist have accustomed with Djurgården during the two weeks the long camp in South Africa. But now leaves he the temporary team in order to continue the training in Croatia. But the is no problem with the rehabilitation without the travel is deliberate already.
- Konstgräs and chill is not good for me, the is to jeopardize all together to accustom in Sweden during this time. Therefore, I go down and accustoms in Croatia instead, says Jesper.

During the camp in South Africa participated Jesper in so good as all trainings, without some problems. After the month in Croatia is that sense that he also will can to be ready for game playing.
- the is of course a long piece left, we sheep to see how the body reacts when one actually drives fullily. But so far feels the good, means he.

In Croatia, he comes coward taking part's to accustom on own hand, but he has also contact with a pair teams where he are welcome to accustom. If a month is the hops that Jesper will last back seriously.

huh? :)

Former Manchester United winger Jesper Blomqvist has announced his retirement from playing. Blomqvist has struggled with injuries for several years and has now decided the time is right to hang up his boots.
