Well the season starts this weekend at Highbury.
What's our first team line-up and formation?
How do you think the newboys will perform?
Can we pull out a shock win?

I guess it's time to start taking this roster seriously.
Sh!t. I just realized they were talking about Coco the Italian, not Cocu the Dutchman.
Thx,
Jay!

Carr, Moore, Boomsong, Taylor
Emre, Parker, Bowyer
Milner, Shearer, Ameobi
Maybe we have a chance. No Viera and no Campbell has to give us some hope. Doesn't it?

I could live with that line up on sunday, have Taylor on standby incase Coco or Moore go walkies, not sure Shearer is gonna be fit, so it may well be 90 minutes for Chop's (what a time to get a few under his belt).

Carr Boumsong moore coco
parker
faye emre
Dyer Milner
Ameobi
At the moment with injuries, and and all sorts i think we shud start like this
IMO i prefer Taylor instead of carr, (he just makes alot of mistakes like passes it off the pitch and stuff)
Shearer is out its says on sky sports, they always try and cover it up, but he is out, jenas, is not match fit? so i believe he will not be in startin 11, also bowyer can go f*** himself! :)

Shearer a doubt for Newcastle opener at Arsenal
LONDON, Aug 9 (Reuters) - Newcastle United captain Alan Shearer is an injury doubt for their Premier League season-opener at Arsenal on Sunday as the Tynesiders struggle to cope with absentees up front.
Shearer is having treatment on a calf strain, Shola Ameobi is suspended for their first two matches and manager Graeme Souness has yet to replace departed strikers Patrick Kluivert and Craig Bellamy.
Souness told the club's website that Shearer, who turns 35 next week, would miss Tuesday night's friendly in Ireland against Bray Wanderers. Micheal Chopra and Dyer?

Emre's all fired up for Gunners
Aug 9 2005
By Paul Gilder, The Journal
Emre will draw on the memories of a momentous night in North London as he attempts to get his Newcastle career off to a spectacular start by inspiring the Magpies to open their Premiership challenge with a flourish.
Having already established himself as a favourite of United's long-suffering supporters, the talented Turk is determined to write his name into Tyneside football folklore by helping Graeme Souness to revive the fortunes of the troubled club.
Arsenal will provide the opposition when Emre makes his competitive debut in English football this weekend and, although Arsene Wenger's side will be the overwhelming favourites to prevail at Highbury, the 24-year-old refuses to be daunted by the prospect.
Souness' £3.8m acquisition from the San Siro was part of the Internazionale team which thumped the Gunners 3-0 in the capital almost two years ago.
And Emre will spend this week attempting to ensure that his colleagues maintain a positive frame of mind as they make their final preparations.
"We will have to play good football at Highbury but, if we spend this week worrying about Arsenal, we won't be able to play at all," said a player who, in his limited appearances since arriving from Milan, has looked a shrewd signing on Souness' part.
"I played at Arsenal for Inter two years ago and we won 3-0 - so I have done it once.
"We will try everything to do the same thing at the weekend. I have experience of playing in these kind of big games and I do not find it at all daunting.
"I have played for big clubs for nine years now - five for Galatasaray, four for Inter, and I have played against a lot of big teams, so I'm not worried. They are a big team, but we are a good team too.
"It could be a good thing to play against Arsenal in the first match. It will give us a chance to see where we are and where we stand."
United's chances could hinge on whether Souness is able to finally make a breakthrough in the transfer market this week.
Ensuring that the players who are already at his disposal remain positive will also be important and the single-minded approach of Emre, for whom the chance to play in such matches was one of the reasons for his decision to move to the North-East, will be welcomed by United's coaching staff.
"We will do our best to succeed," said the midfielder, whose all-action style of play has endeared him to fans. It's a very good feeling for me that the fans seem to like me already.
"The Newcastle people deserve the best things, the best football, and I want to give them that. I have only been here for a couple of weeks and played in a couple of games but already I can see that the people are excited.
"I wanted to come here. Newcastle is a very important club for me and for my career and I believe I will be successful in English football.
"The people of Newcastle want us to win and want us to be back in the Champions League. They are always wanting more and more and aiming higher and higher. We have a very young team but we will try everything."I love this guy might be the best signing for the Toon in years.

So it's a win-win situation.

That's good stuff. If everyone comes out like they have something to prove, combined with Viera's, Campbell's, and Reyes' absence, NUFC might make it a good fight.
And I think Everton's performance last season is something they should be thinking about.

Given
Carr Boumsong Taylor Coco
Parker
Dyer Bowyer Emre
Chopra Milner
Figuring worst case, no Shearer...
I hope we will be seeing a lot of Milner as a forward this year. He has shown well in the friendlies, and is a natural forward.
The real question is midfield. Does Souness have the 'nads to start Bowyer and Dyer together? Probably not, and probably a good thing, so replace Bowyer with Jenas.
If Coco's loan comes through I bet Babayaro goes in January, and we see him about twice between now and then.
