it's a fookin' brutal game.
Some ungoldy hacking and diving.
Robben tried to pull a Rooney and look like a fool,
Makele and Fabregas having a scrum, Lauren hacking Droba's achilles, etc...
what a bunch of wankers.

I hope our boys are watching this... it could very well be the standard we have to better/attain.

I thought it was a lackluster effort on both sides.
Perhaps because those teams play a league match
two weeks from today...

Yeah, and Flamini's not about to fill those huge shoes in CM. I think Arsenal are, on paper, worth less points than last season, while United are worth more (VDS being key). Whether that means we'll finish above them or only 5 points behind remains to be seen.

As for Chelsea, it's trouble. Esp if they get Essien. We'll have to be up for every game, none of that "mundane" crap Fergie talked of last season when we put in rubbish and got a rubbish result 3 days after a fantastic European game. If we can do that, we should be able to keep up until the end.

Arsenal were pinging the ball around in a fashion not many in the league could hang with...Chelsea were defending in a way probably only they can in the league... it was a very interesting game.

Drogba was offside for his second goal (when it was flick-headed on to him). No tv investigation! What's going on?

Not impressed by Arsenal at all. If Senderos is a starter, Arsenal is gonna have all kinds of problems with their defense this season. Flamini is too young and inexperienced to make a serious impact, Bergkamp is way too old. Hleb showed nothing, but he'll probably get better as the season goes on. Wouldn't be surprised if Arsenal doesn't get in the top 3 at the end of the season.
Chelsea, on another hand, won the game without really trying. And their bench is unbe-********ing-lievable. That's a little scary, but to be expected. And it looks like they'll miss out on Essien, surprisingly enough.

I only caught the 1st half. It looked like there was no love lost out there which when you think about it is good for Man Utd. Let them beat the heck out of each other and then maybe we'll have a shot at beating Chelsea :)

finally our long national nightmare is almost over, footy begins in earnest this week.

I thought Hleb had some really good moments in the game, especially for his first serious match for Arsenal, He will get much better as the season progresses.

Drogba played well. Senderos was out of his depth

The criticisms in this thread are not logical...at all. Arsenal's brand of football yesterday would have torn any team not named Man Utd or Chelsea a huge, vacous hole and they would've scored their usual 3 or 4 goals. Chelsea, like it or not, have the best defensive unit(s) in the league...that is the only reason why the final activity looked muted - that is kudos to Chelsea not a reference of how poor Arsenal are.

How many teams in the league do you really think could have kept up with Arsenal yesterday? They will top the league for scoring, again imo.

Arsenal looked pretty good, with the exception of Senderos. They controlled most of the game but lacked being able to get that one last pass to create a true goal opportunity. Chelsea did a good job of not allowing Henry to touch the ball inside the box. All of his chances were turnaround shots that were weakly hit.

Arsenal were pretty poor and it was a return to them trying to pass the ball into the net in their continued search for the perfect goal. We are lucky that they don't have any decent strikers or natural finishers in their squad. If they did, we could be in trouble. With Chelsea they adopted their sit back, punt it forward and try to score on the break tactics. It worked because Arsenal were stupid enough to play a high back line against quick players. The likes of Lauren and Senderos showed yet again why they are not good enough at this level. Their central midfield was also ripped apart due to a lack of physical presence and ball winner. Some quite hilarious stuff on display yesterday from both sides. Bring them on.

underestimating either team is silly... the counter is always a good tactic when you have the tools and Arsenal's attack can break down ANY defense on any given day.

I watched the game but didn't give it my full attention. However, it was interesting how many times Chelsea tried to get over the top of Arse, including both goals. Given the problems that United has had with this tactic, it should be a cause for concern.

Arse obviously isn't in mid-season form yet and I expect it will take a while for them to adapt to life without Vieira. As we can attest, if your midfield cannot dictate then it gets difficult to create quality chances.

One final thing to remember, although both teams wanted to win, this was only an exhibition.
