AP obituary (http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/arts/AP-Obit-Ferrer.html)
Good man, good singer, tough life with redemption only in his later years. Saw him at the Beacon a couple of years back with Ruben Gonzales, who died in 2003, and Omara Portoundo -- total class act.

RIP. The man had a truely 'golden' voice.

That completely sucks. :(
As a concert promoter, I tried presenting him several times, but we could never quite work it out. :(

Truly sad. He probably had my favorite voice of the rediscovered "Beuena Vista" crowd.
Adios big man.

Is that why they showed Buena Vista Social Club this morning on, Showtime, I think? Sad. Rest in peace.

With Ferrer, Ruben Gonzales and Compay Segundo all passing in the past few years, I'm glad these incredible talents were able to be exposed to a wider audience in their lifetimes.

Thankfully Eliades Ochoa is still only 60 today and will hopefully be around for quite a while longer.

I broke out my Ferrer and Buena Vista CDs out yesterday. I'm bummed.
