Now that AJ has signed with Crystal Palace for what I think is a 5-year extension, does he have any chance of making the WC squad? I thought maybe he would sign a short-term deal and move in January, but a 5-year extension seems to rule that out, so it looks like he staying in the CCC for awhile. He would, IMO, have to score 25+ goals in the league alone to be considered, and maybe get a few against EPL clubs in the League or FA Cup.

If Defoe or Owen get injured he stands a chance. But your right at he would have to score 25/30 goals to be even in contention.

I think he'll leave Palace in January....imho.
He'll get left out of the games with Austria and Poland and then will be crying for a move to a Premier League club.

Why would he make the squad? Not good enough. He can come back when he doesnt score a lot of his goals through diving for pens.

He has no chance of displacing a fit Owen or Defoe, even if he was still in the Premiership.
if one of them is injured then he has a chance.

Agreed Send. A.J. absolutely doesn't stand a chance to make the W.C. squad.
Like you I think only if there was an injury to Owen or Defoe, then possibly. But lets count our blessings and hope that doesn't happen. ENGLAND 06!!!!! :)

NO to AJ.
Rooney, Owen, Defoe and Crouch will all be going. Add to that whoever makes the biggest impression in the EPL this season.

You think Crouch is a shoe-in? I'd first like to see how he does in Europe, although he probably will make the squad.

I think Crouch gets in simply because at his height. If things aren't going so well in the last 10 or 15 minutes, he will offer a change of pace on corner kicks with his headers. A.J. doesn't offer you that change of pace. What A.J. offers, Owen, Rooney, and Defoe have more of. And that is the true reason why Crouch gets in. :)

Owen, Rooney, Defoe, Crouch will be the 4, if one of them is injured then Alan Smith will come in before AJ

Dean Ashton should get a game if he does well in the Championship. Ashton last season had 20 goals for Crewe and that was before the Transfer window. Then he comes to the Premiership and does well for Norwich scoring like 7 goals. For the England U-21 team he has played well. This season he could have 40 Campionship goals and if he does that then he should at least play in a freindly.

agreed ,ashton should be in the squad .
The guy is pure class and far better than crouch ,smith and afew of the other contenders .Id go as far as saying that he is the 4th best striker we've got.
pecking order
-owen
-rooney
-defoe
-ashton
Johnson aint good enough .
