Top 5 among bands whose lead singers have impregnated Gwynneth Paltrow? Sure.

Between the album and their live shows, you cant seperate their energy and sound.

I figured there's alot of music enthusiasts that despise ambient rock, but as far as legitemacy goes, Coldplay is without a doubt one of the best live bands I have ever seen.

I think they combined what Ashcroft and Gallagher did and made a much larger leap in musical presentation and sound simply by singing about things they care about without being synnical.

You know, I might give them a chance if they were still playing small venues, but I never got the point of catching a band in an arena. Chances are, you get a crappy view, the sound isn't that great and you're dropping $40+ before the Ticketbastard charge. Unless you absolutely love the band, it couldn't possibly be worth the cash and the troubles.

They have some perfectly nice singles, but they're just nice, not particularly life changing or nipple stiffening.

If the pool of music you are allowing yourself is Green Day on one end and Coldplay on the other, you owe it to yourself to open up your channels and hear a broader selection.

Well, i don't listen to any hacks that are currently circulating in the mainstream so if I need a breath of fresh air, I guess I'll need to listen to the hacks. Coldplay isn't going to do it for me.

I listen to all ranges of Rock & Roll from underground to the surface and I don't know - or I can't find any contemporary artists that can match this band.

I thought X&Y was pretty mediocre, even by Coldplay standards.

I mean, what's up with the first stanza of "Fix You"?

When you try your best but you don't succeed
When you get what you want but not what you need
When you feel so tired but you can't sleep

Was he trying to write "Ironic: Part 2"? Chris Martin on 2001 wouldn't have written anything that crappy, even if Chris Martin 2001 was responsible for "Yellow".

i'd take green day and coldplay on the radio over the ******** that was there for the better part of five years (aka nu-metal and ************ pop/dance artists). both bands are good for what they are, not really my cup of tea but whatever. i've heard that coldplay puts on a good show from people with good taste in music, nothing great but pretty decent (at least 3 years ago).

I saw them on the A Rush of Blood to the Head tour and was quite impressed, but this new record just doesn't do it for me.

I have them on my iPod, though. Go figure.

my view on coldplay is this....... they're not that bad, compared to what is out there. you could listen to far worse music. and i don't like them all that much. but compared to what's put out on mainstream radio, they're ok. if you're into mainstream radio
