Maybe not, according to Rick Parry.

Hmmm...I admit I don't know much about this tourney, but we MUST do well in the league this year and anything that gets in the way of that has to sacrificed. I vote no.

If we decide not to go, its really going to piss off Sepp Blatter. This tournament is useless without the Champions of Europe. Can Fifa force us to play? Maybe we could just send a reserve squad.

Sao Paulo, this year's Copa Libertadores champs, should tell FIFA and Blatter to go screw themselves, get together with Liverpool and revive the one game long Intercontinental Cup, but not in Japan, that's too freaking far away. The US would be the most logical site.

The champion of the world club championship will get 5-6 million dollars in prize money, and that doesnt include the t.v money and other financial points i dont handle to well.My point is that its a lot of money to just let go if we wana buy any ¨world class signings¨next year,so i think we should go.We should keep behind players like cisse, gerrard, carragher and risse cause i think those 4 are the ones that are going to play most, but we should send hyypia, alonso, moro, crouch, garcia, etc.

Yes, I would rather play the other way, with only the european and south american champions.

but if Liverpool really declines, would Milan be the substitute?

Agreed, and at the L.A. Galaxy's pitch, 'coz it's the closest to ME!! :D

IMHO it's not The Liverpool Way to shirk any competition. Times have changed though, so I dunno. Goes without saying though that I'd love for us to go and play and win it.

As long as we send a squad they wont be p-oed.

Send the U-19's and a few reserves and it's all good.

C'mon guys!!!!I know that my club, Saprissa, seems to be amazing, and superpowerful and almighty, but that's not a reason to quit the CWC!!!!
I cheered for you guys in the UCL, but if you guys go to the WC, i'll be attacking everybody and trolling around here!!!!!!! JAJAJ no I'm just kidding, i am a good guy
I hope you guys go to the CWC, i really wanna see my team playing your team!
Good luck in the EPL!
Cheers from CR!

Quite frankly, as European champion, you guys were already going to go to Japan to play anyways. Now you just add one more game. Isn't being crowned World Champion worth playing one more game against a team where the stars may be able to get a lot of second half rest against?

This is old but I just stumbled upon it. According to this guy, Liverpool shouldn't even bother going ... because it will get killed.

We've already made the semi-finals, so it's already an unqualified success.

we'll look at this league table (http://www.goalslive.com/new/info/lgtab/1017.htm) in December and gauge their form then

We've already made the semi-finals, so it's already an unqualified success.

are you suggesting we quit at the semifinal stage? that's even worse innit? we'll never live that down

We'll go, but it is a blatant pain the arse of a competition, so it's not exactly going to be one we really bust a gut for. After last season's injury freakshow, we're not going to risk key players for a meaningless bauble like this.

I think Liverpool should go for a very simple reason: this will be the best chance you have of winning a trophy in 2005-06, no offence.

That's a very poor attempt at trolling.
