nice

and for anyone wanting to do rock and roll tours, the only guy you need is Richard Porter

www.beatlesinlondon.com

the guy rocks. Really smart. He talks like a Robin Leech mixed with the voice that Jerry Seinfeld gives his girlfriend's belly button when she sleeps. Plus he's got great hair. He knows everything about rock and roll in london, and all you have to do is meet him at the assigned times and pay him there!

OK, So my 7 1/2 year old loves Gwens Hollaback girl video and I decided to download the Old No Doubt - Don't Speak video for her to see Gwen when she was cool. Well as I am watching the video I keep looking at the Bass player thinking with a darker tone and minus the side burns he looks just like A. Cole!
Is it me or is it just too many bourban and cokes?
This will probably be one of those posts where I wake up tommorrow and say WTF was I thinking?

i thought it was 11!!

and i think they are trying to pass a law for 24 hour drinking, so the pubs can close whenever they want to
If I remember right, it's 11 during the week, and 12 on weekends. Regardless, this is vital information, as there was nothing more stunning than hearing "LAST CALL", looking at my watch and going "What?". FYI, I believe that also means stores stop selling alcohol after that time, so stock up as well!

yeah, thats it. we're both right!!

pubs close and then you have to hit the clubs, which usually have a cover charge

One of the cool things about Richard Porter's site that Dan linked to is the link to the camera at Abbey Rd. You can see who is crossing RIGHT NOW. Wouldn't it be cool if you knew what time you were going there and could have your friends in the states see you live? I think that is so cool!

yeah, i thought about that.

Richard Porter really is the man. Its 5.50 quid for the tour, and you just meet him at the Tottenham Court Tube stop, above ground, near the threater that is playing the Queen musical. He takes you everywhere, Apple Studios, Soho Square, MPL (pauls company right now), Abbey Rd, etc.

sometimes the bars in more residential areas or in hotels will be more lenient or stay open later...i know one hotel that i was looking at today had a pub that stayed open until 1:30. The reviews said this WAS NOT the norm for most pubs, though.

I don't know about you guys, but I know my cell phone won't work over there. I think it will be the death of us. We just aren't used to that...it's like having dial-up or something. :)

that is def not the norm.

11 on the weekdays

12 on the weekends

then you pay cover to get into clubs :(

and seriously, go on a Richard Porter tour. He was our guide for three days in London, it was fantastic. He even was written up in the travel section of the Chicago Tribune!!

I did. Looks great! bookings.roomsnet.com has it for $412.24 for a single and venere.com has it for $421.75 for a single. I'm guessing it's probably about $10 more per night for a double. And that's based on check-in 10/28 and check-out 11/1. Some sites were showing Jury's Inn in Islington booked for 11/4-6, but some don't so I'm assuming they still have some availability.

The tour may be a good thing to do one of those first few days we are in London...like Sun or Mon. I'm planning on flying to Cork on Tuesday 11/1 and flying back to London and heading to Islington on Friday 11/4 arriving in the late afternoon/early evening. Then hopefully we can all get together for dinner &/or pub crawling, dancing, or what not that night so we can "reconvene" the American contingent before the big finale. I am sooo excited!

I cannot wait! I will be so ready for a trip because we have so much work to do between now and Thanksgiving on some new products that I will be extremely busy! Something to look forward to on the long nights I am working!

I don't think this was one of Arsenal's best designs. LOL

You should see it "in action". I have the Arsenal 501 Goals DVD and they have a few clips with players wearing that shirt. It looks like it's either been stained or that the whole team is going to a Ted Nugent concert after the match.

Which reminds me of one of the funniest exchanges in movie history, when George Clooney walks out of jail in a tux in "Ocean's Eleven" and sees Brad Pitt:

Pitt: I hope you were the groom.
(pause)
Clooney: Ted Nugent called. He wants his shirt back.
