Ashley has emerged!
It's kind of cool. In preparation for the England/Ireland or Scotland trip, I researched another genealogy line. I do a different line every few years and it's kinda fun. The funny thing is the kookie family secrets that you stumble upon. So far I'm 2 for 2! Now that is weird.

What did you turn up? Anything you can share? I only know a little bit about my own Irish heritage, and even less about my dad's side.

...and Now we take you to Big Cypress Seminole Indian Reservation where some 80,000 have gathered to celebrate with Vermont Band, the Phish...

Jennings was a Deadhead...
Anyway, that Narrows show looks sick, definitely the one with Doves, B&S and Redwalls... hmm, busy month October may become.
OK, so, Jill came with me to see the Arsenal yesterday, after only having met me on Friday night. So far, so great.... :D

Well about a year or 2 ago I turned up the fact that my great grandfather wasn't really my grandfather's father...his real father was my great-grandmother's first husband (which we had previously not known about)...
The story was that the first husband died in a car accident, but my research today turned up the fact that he not only didn't die then...he ended up remarrying and have other children. He only died in 1981...even outliving his son, my grandfather.
The cool thing is that my grandfather's true father was Scotch Irish and his genealogy is well documented all the way from Ireland and probably Scotland before that with a bit more work. Apparently this descendant was quite well-known during his time and had an odd enough name that it is easy to trace.
Pretty cool huh! :)

Jill, huh...we've already moved to first name references rather than referring to her as "the chick from the internet"...lookin' good!

No and no, my buddy from the radio station had tickets, and some girl from the record company was buying drinks so i just went to the show. I had only heard of the band because they were in 442 that month, their rep was impressed that i knew they were Leicester (sp?) City fans.

re: Offsides - No, she didn't understand offsides, but she knew enough not to wear blue!!!
re: Narrows: If you can seriously manage an extra, I'm all over it!
re: first names: Yeah, much easier to call her Jill as opposed to "chick from Match.com"
re: Kasabian - the album is ********in' great.

thats cool. I've been interested in my family's history, but never done anything. I'm 50 % polish and 50% Irish. The polish side is my Dad's and his family came over in the late 1800s and loads of my relatives worked in the stockyards in Chicago. Until recently my Great Aunt lived in the house that my Dad's mom was born in, and that my like great-grandfather built in Chicago.
my mom's side is the Irish side. I think her relatives came over a long long long time ago.
I was going to try to get an Irish or Polish passport through my relatives so I could get a job in London, but for ireland it needs to be grandparents and the same with Poland.

I was watching the tributes on the internet yesterday at work and was choking up a bit. My parents always watched ABC News when I was in high school and college, so I can always remember that voice, as it was just so distinctive. He always struck me as much as a teacher as a news anchor, usually introducing some of the investigative or focus pieces by saying "we're going to take a look tonight at..." To think that we'll never hear him on the air again is almost unbelievable.

Its kinda hard to believe that Peter Jennings is dead and Walter Cronkite is still alive. Its also suprising how quickly he died, weird how all three network anchors are off the air in the same year, too. After what, 20 years of competing?

That's what i'm thinking, i wonder what the process would be though? I'll have to do some research.
