Talk about coming out of nowhere ... I've followed them for a while now and am impressed. This is really good news.

Fluminese are a great club, who do we already have as feeder clubs? We should go get Ajax or a dutch club if possible.

I didn't know there was a Youth U-15 world cup? But besides that, great news, makes me very happy that we have some access to more young talent..

Wow, this is exciting news. As a kid I was in an indoor league at Fluminense so I"m happy to see that the club is partnering with United! Hopefully both clubs will return to their former glory.

Fluminense
Sao Paulo
Sporting
Royal Antwerp
Oslo Ost
Connah’s Quay
Newport
Parramatta Eagles
Walsall
Shelbourne
Brommapojkarna
Nantes
MVV Maastricht
Livingston ???

No doubt I have forgotten some or things have changed. :(

Livingston were "supposed" be one but I don't know what happened to the agreement. Souleymane Mamam was training with us because we had his older brother playing at the club, you signed him and sent him to Antwerp. We got an injured Kirk Hilton and Nick Culkin on loan for a spell, but that was the last I heard about anything.

Do we have anything to show for these arrangements? I know we purchased Ronaldo from Sporting but he wasn't exactly a secret.

From memory:

Ronaldo from Sporting (Rincon going there on loan)
Rincon (http://www.futebolthebrazilianwayoflife.com/new_rincon.asp) from Sao Paulo
Mamam "thanks" to Livingston
Royal Antwerp have taken loads of players on loan and have quite a few there awaiting work permits (Maman/Dong/Gomez)
Nantes was part of the Djemba-Djemba transfer I think
Others have/will be used for some loans, but mainly for scouting, information and first refusal on players.

Again, please correct anything wrong or add anything I have missed.

Luke Chadwick, hero of Antwerp. They still sing his name in the stands.

What is the expectation for all this? Loaning out players is fine but right now we have only the awesome Ronaldo to show for this. Is it too soon to tell or is the best case scenario to uncover a new Ronaldo every few years? (Of course, if that's "all" we get then it's still pretty great.)

the idea is that we help that club by supplying them with good young players for free... ie, young players who need to be loaned out as well as help in other ways including the odd friendly to help boost them and when a top notch player comes along we get first pop at him.

What is the expectation for all this?

We learn from their coaching techniques and have their scouts basically working for us in those regions. You need to remember that most of these involved us actively looking at their players from the age of 16 and below, so it takes time to see end results. It also allows us to get work permits for any young talent, as I explained in the comments regarding Antwerp above. Rincon going to Sporting is also for this reason.

Like Cicinho at Sao Paulo. ;)

So I guess we wait and see. In theory it seems like it's a huge advantage. Now let's see if any of those players that we identify become first team fixtures.

I don't see why we don't have more clubs in the lower English divisions under us.. would give our youngsters a place to loan IN England, getting used to the 'rougher' play. Additionally would give a possible upperhand on identifying young Englanders.

I mean we do loan to English clubs, obviously, but we don't have many agreements according to Tesos' list except Walsall??? I am in the unknowledged about the other 'Englishy named' clubs like Newport.

BTW, one of our feeder clubs, sporting lisbon, is suppose to have 2 brilliant young attacking mids coming up by the names of Fabio Paim, and Ze Mario

Yeah, so just the one in England.

Too bad MLS is single-entity. FC Dallas would make an excellent feeder club IMHO.

The reason we don't have feeder clubs in England is because we need those clubs to discover and produce talent that we DON'T have access to, as well as get WP for them. I'm not sure, but just cuz you play in a lowerleague does not mean you can get players who don't have work permits which is why so many of our feeder clubs are scattered across the EU.

Also, most of those clubs play in the top flite leagues in their countries iirc and as such the competition there would be much higher than lower leagues here... we could never have a feeder club from Colaship because of the conflict or issues so essentially any team in England acting as a feeder club would have like 0 chance of making it to the prem.
