It would be stupid for owen to go to Lyon. He needs to be in the Premereship, period. The problem is that Owen will go to a team thats competing in the Champions League. And we know how many of those there are in the Premereship. :)

If he plays regularly then I don't see why not. It might not be the best setting, but he might need to accept that for a season in order to fully prepare for the WC.

What the hell is wrong with Lyon? and yes they may very well take the CL by storm this year, with or without Owen. 4 time Ligue 1 champions, now currently managed by Gerard Houllier, I think Lyon would be a great home for Mikey.
And you know what Chriac says about the French food. "fantastique!" :D

Yes, definitely better to try and force a move to Lyon than accepting move to somewhere like Newcastle just for the sake of it.

He won't go to Ligue 1.
Owen believes that he is too good for France, and he can do better than Lyon.
Besides, why does he want to play for a team destined to finish runner-up? ;)

Owen can do better than Lyon - especially a Lyon side now managed by Mr No-midfield, Houllier. I think he should join Blackburn on a season-long loan, with option for Blackburn to buy, should he bag a couple of tens a season.

Does Lyon need Owen? They just bought Fred. He is no Owen, but they just covered that position.

Money? Who needs cash when you've got Micheal Ricketts to offer in an exchange deal? Madrid would have ripped our arm off and I'm sure Micky would prefer to join a Championship pacesetter than Premier League relegation favourites. ;)
