So I think I'm a pretty decent winger, I practice alot on my time and work hard around. I dont really play on a competitive team though, just on a community team with friends and have some fun. I can run fast and I think I'm pretty decent at dribbling, my shots accuracy is a bit iffy, but I"m working on it. Anyways, the problem is, whenever I hear about try outs or some sort of soccer event. I feel eagered to go, but I'm scared that although I think i'm a decent player, there's gonna be crazy players there that'll make me look like dirt. For the try outs, I never end up going, cause I always think I'm gonna mess up bad, maybe like slip on the ball or take a shot and it goes waaay wide. There's this summer camp that I want to join, but again, I'm scared of the crazy players there that'll put me to shame since it's like a pretty big camp. For the sign up form, there's also a spot for the name of your team and tier that it plays on. Well, since it's a community team, it's only on tier 5. Will filling that in affect anything at all? Any help for confidence and answer sto my questions will be nice. Thanks.

Bottom line: If you never try out, you'll never make the team. At the very least you can see who you're up against and if they ARE way better than you, you will know how much you need to improve your game before trying out again.

Eh who cares, if you don't make it and do make a fool of yourself, it's not like you're ever gonna see them again. And really, how're you gonna make the team if you don't even try out?
If you're still afraid, you can always go to a local pub, drink a pitcher of anything, and you'll be relaxed enough for a try-out.

dont ill cause spinal problems :), what ever happened to the good old grumpy look, the simple punch in the air or "COME ON!" with the neck veins poppin out an the angry face (my personal fav) to celebrate the goal. Nothing cooler than hittin a 25-30 yard screamer then just turn round an no emotion on your face an walk back down the pitch, that kinda "yer i do them for breakfast ;)".

As for confidence mate forget about your worries times change an chances fade mist opertunities turn into faiding hope and missed dreams. Focus on what makes you happy an do it dont let other peoples opinions and works change the person you are you just godda let the football do the talkin cos thats all that matters at the end of the day. Little story for ya i played and captained my primary school side full of a bunch of kids there were only 4 lads in my year group, my head said i had tallent and i got scouted to join the local athlectics club as a sprinter, but turned it down. Moved up to secondary school didnt go for the football team as didnt know many people on it and lacked the confidence too, joined the Hockey team and formed the team up again in my last couple of years there after numbers dropped established the team and captained it for a few years. Every week i played on a football team in Phys Edu to help the school football team practice and nearly every week we beat them me an a mate racking up a damn good tally of goals. But still never joined the team.
One year before i left my PE teacher approached me an asked me why the hell i never joined the football team as i could have easyily made it into there strike force which consisted of a few acadamy players.
Now however its getting harder and harder to find a game im out of practice out of shape an last year when i pulled myself together and applied for a uni team i tore my knee up 9 months later im waitin for an op in 3 months.
Moto of story if theres a game play if theres a practice play if theres a ball play god sake dont pass up any chances or youll end up like me regrettin not :) you dont need confidence mate you just need to say everytime you put your kit on fu<k them im playin, in five years time you wont care what they think you might even now know where they are or to be morbid some i knew are dead now. So just go for it mate thats life, take it by the balls an live it.

If you stuff up, you'll just joke about it later. No one will care. And everyone will forget in 2min anyway.
But if you do well, everyone will remeber, and could lead to greater things.
But if you dont go nothing will happen.
Its up to you...But i think the answers easy.

Dude, you just hav to go out and do ur thing, dont let other ppl throw you off, especially at tryouts, that is when you have to step it up and not worry about other ppl, if someone makes you look bad, make them look worse, you have to stick with what you do, if ur a great dribbler, dribble your ass off, if ur a playmaker, set up goals left and right. I say go for the camp...

The main cause of a failure is a fear of failure, so I think it's just stupid to tremble and get scared of trying out, especially when you can kick some asses easily. EVEN if you won't make it on your first attempt, don't worry, because it's always a priceless experience that will help you during the second try.

Mate, your gonna be stuck in this situation forever if you dont just go to one. I find it good to play against players better than me, you know what the high standards are, and you can then aim to be as good/better than them. Also take tips from them and watch how they play. Oh and if you really have no chance, an autograph is always good :D

A friend of mine who is a three time state champ coach says to his players, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take". I think that sums it all up doesn't it?
