As a German scholar, I feel rather embarrassed asking this.

Is it 'SI-son' or 'SAY-son'?

Thanks, Freunde.

Its: Say - Song.

But the "S" is both times pronounced soft, not hard like in say and song.

It's actually a French word. And it's pronounced like the French word.

And it's not pronounced like the french word 'cause in france they wouldn't pronounce a "g" at the end. ;)

If you wanna know the pronunciation of some other german words just visit http://dict.leo.org . Love this homepage. :)

Well, you should pronounce it without the g of course but a lot of people just don't.

Well, I'm not gonna butcher french words by pronouncing them "German".
I could never say Couseng in stead of Cousin as well, it just sounds terrible imo.

What's all this about pronouncing a "g" at the end? Why on earth would you do that?

Well, most people just do. I don't know why. Maybe it's to hard for them to pronounce it like the French do even though I can't understand it.

People also say Couseng (Cousin) and Façong (Façon). :D

Even though I think we don't pronounce the g, but we speak the n like there would be a g behind it... making it sound French ;-)
