Just a couple of thoughts, as I'm now a couple weeks ahead at work, and don't have any of my books with me...

Are Everton that bad a side to play for? CL football, a good coach, can't understand why name stars seem to be avoiding Goodison like the plague. Baros on the other hand would add a bit of flare, he seems very inconsistent though.

Also, will Arsenal end up spending virtually nothing yet again during the close season? It seemed that Wenger had money to spend even prior to Viera leaving

Davids, good or bad for Spurs? I admittedly know very little about the side, but am figuring with a fairly sound defense, a decent keeper, and dangerman Defoe, they'll be there, or there abouts for CL football next season.

After seeing Fulham here in Columbus, they have to be on nearly everyones list to go down next season. It'll be tight again as Rovers are dreadful, and Baggies figure to come into play. The three coming up stand little chance, so could make for an exciting six team dog fight to avoid relegation.

Any thoughts on an Angel return to form at Villa or the Vassell move to Man City?

As far as Vassell I can't see it coming off for him. Only scored double digits in the league once, seems to be injury prone. Would make my day if Fowler scores more goals than him.

Fulham, Wigan and West Brom to go down.

Boa Morte to Toon for 6million reportedly, Fulham are certain to go down without Boa Morte.

Everton are not willing to pay the transfer and wage demands for Milan Baros. Have Everton bolstered their side at all? Is there any possibility that they'll make it out of their first round of qualification? I'd not back them to finish in 4th again this season. Spurs on the other hand, If they can get it right, I forsee them challenging Man U for the 3rd spot.

Ouch--Fulham need to hold on to Boa Morte or they are screwed, although the way Souness is running Newcastle I'm not sure it'd be an improvement careerwise for the Snake.

Going down--Wigan (can't buy anyone even with money to spend), Sunderland (pre-season or not 3-0 to the Whitecaps is not promising), and Fulham (if they sell Boa Morte).

With any luck Portsmouth, Birmingham and West Brom will get relegated.

Pompey aren't going down, they took what I think will be a smart gamble on Robert.

I don't know--they were actually my third choice if the Cottagers don't sell Boa. Pompey just seems to be floundering.

I think the Baggies are safe--I'd don't think they'll start so slowly although they would have been better off if Richardson had agreed to return.

did he go back to United?

Yeah WBA offered another season long loan but he took the stay and fight for a spot road.

Not a smart move, although, very few positions at United are safe IMHO. It's as I say, I could see Man U struggling to maintain the 3rd position. And with Spurs and L'Pool improved, they could have some serious contention.

Is it safe to say that most believe it's Chelski's title to lose?

I think Lokomotive West London will do well to retain the title. Easier to win it than retain.

Spurs will flatter to deceive again.

Liverpool will do well to finish in the top 4. Too many games to play.

Arsenal - depends if they can get a replacement for Viera and whether Pires stays.

MAnchester Soccerball kickers will be fine - as long as their forwards remember how to score.

I can't see anyone challenging Chelsea. They're the class of the league.

When it's all said and done, the yids will be either 3rd or 4th.

L'pool there or there abouts for qualification.

I absolutely cannot explain whey Arsenal haven't bought a big name this summer. I expect huge output though from Fabregas, and Phoceen born Flamini.

As you can tell Man U impresses me very little.

Somewhat related as he's on loan from Arsenal, has Aliadiere featured for Celtic yet? I always thought he had good talent prior to getting injured.

Idiot, he could have had an incredible season with WBA - instead he'll ride the bench.

I look for Spector to have a break-out year while on loan to Charlton this year.

6 Months in the West Midlands is long enough for anyone.

Is Timmy Howard still with United? Any chance he'll get time over Van Der Saar?

save this thread for next season when Leeds, fresh from promotion, win it all.

I'll start by backing my own club to stay up. Pompey floundered last year because of the managerial mess. Four managers over the course of the season. First, Redknapp left to Scummers, then a poor tandem of the Croat and Joe Jordan, before Alain Perrin comes in with about 10 matches left.

There has been plenty of quality on the summer signings as well, but some of them are from Africa (Mbesuma) and Latin America (Viafara). If you look at Portsmouth record last year when there was stability (before Redknapp left and after Perrin settled) the results were good.

Fulham, Wigan, Baggies to go down.

I will be interested to see how Everton cope with Europe and how their domestic form may suffer.

I also still doubt Liverpool's prospects for, say, top three finish in England. I don't care if they won the CL last year, their domestic form is still shite.

My questions for the season:

*What is the gap between Arsenal and Chelsea? All I hear on the preseason talk is the gap between ManU and Chelsea, but ManU, I don't believe will be anywhere near the top two.

*Which way will Newcastle move on the table? Will they recover from their dreadful season last year?

*What small club will compete for Europe?

Aliadiere has featured a few times (generally late in matches), though as we all know Celtic are having their struggles. He came in late against Artmedia Bumfcuk, but didn't have time to show much. I am eager to see him get a more regular place in the starting 11, as I think he has more to offer than most of Celtic's other attacking players.
