What Recoba said is that "we have the advantage because we are Uruguay"
Thats exactly it, hes resulting to reputation to try and convince himself of superiority. A bit sad.
Is it true that Forlan might be starting?

Good to see that the Australian federation is looking after our players. Stupiod move Uruguay to try and move the game originally so that Australia had to book a charter flight.
Qantas (sponsor of Australia) would have more than obliged as it gives them alot of publicity. Good on em.
Meanwhile, the Aussies are flying on a specially-equipped, customized 767 with massage tables, etc.

"More than 70kg of extra ice will be packed onto the plane, as well as special high carbohydrate meals to aid recovery.
On top of that, the chartered flight will land the Socceroos in Australia some 20 hours before any commercial flight could have done."
Advantage: Socceroos

Uruguay is a dirty team: Ronaldo
Sportal
Brazilian marksman Ronaldo believes that Australia can expect some dirty tactics from Uruguay when the teams meet in the first leg of their World Cup qualifiers on Sunday morning (AEDT).
According to Ronaldo, Uruguay, along with its South American neighbour Argentina, is one of the 'dirtiest' nations in modern game.
"These two countries are the specialists in provocation," Ronaldo told The Star newspaper.
"When the ball is up the other end of the field, they kick you from behind, they insult your mother, they try to provoke you," he added.
Ronaldo believes that the Uruguayans use provocative tactics to try and unsettle teams having seen them in action first hand when playing South American World Cup qualifiers and the Copa America.
"The South American players, the Argentines and the Uruguayans in particular use more gamesmanship and always try to provoke their opponents into losing their temper and getting a red card," he said.
Australia is anticipating a hostile reception in Montevideo, following the incidents the Socceroos endured when they played in the city in 2001.
But tighter security this time is expected to help the Australians be better prepared for abuse from locals when they arrive.

Ronaldo is one to talk.. In south american history they have always been partial to Brasil. I can say there are countless of times that the ref has favored brazil with penalties and not calling penalties for smaller nations. he can suck a big fat c0ck.. buck tooth f@gott..Why doesn't he go throw some more bottles at fans!!!!!

IMO our chances depend a lot on the fitness of Grella and Bresciano. Both came in this week carrying injuries, but while Grella trained well on thursday, Bresh was not able to train.
If Grella shuts down Recoba, we have a good chance, and bresh can always create a goal.
Anyone got any news on the prospective line up?

Don't worry guys. Australia will open up the floodgates in Sydney on the 16th to send the Urgayans back to a mob wanting their heads. And if not...they can enjoy being an anomaly in soccer for a few years before ripping it up in Asia.

Not upset at the result but also not pleased with it either. I think Australia desperately needed an away goal.
Will be a great game on Wednesday.
Interesting enough, i think Uruguay would have had a penalty when Schwarzer brought the player down if Uruguay didnt move the match back to a earlier time. The sun was in the refs eyes so he didnt see it LOL

Some interesting team selections by the Guus!
Don't know if i would have played Kewell?
Where was Cahill?
It will be interesting to see what Guus has to say about his selections!

1-1 would of been better but that free kick to create the goal well, was not a fair one in my opinion.

Just like I thought, the S. Americans are overrated. Their teams weren't impressive in Saturday's games. Of course I'm not talking about Brazil or Argentina, I'm talking about their other teams. Equador sucked! And Uruguay's only won by 1 goal over the Aussies at home. Unimpressive!

Did you see that Ecuador-poland game? My god. They were playing in a swimming pool. No way a team like Ecuador can play in those condition. Why didn't you mention Paraguay? Uruguay should have destroyed Australia and there was two clear penalties not called for Uruguay. Plus you one to talk about being over-rated.. I didn't even know scotland played futbol!

Its going to be 3-0 to the Aussies. A complete reversal of the 2001 tie.

Uruguay plays much harder compettion all year round, even though they are in 5th in the SA group. They play Much Much better team in order to qualify, Arge, Bra, Colom....etc.....They play in the Copa America. Its make sthat team alot better playing against the tough competetion. If they beat Arg 1-0 (yes I know Arg did not care cause they were already in), but they should handle Aust.
