there is a lot of good french music for the young folk, but i can't help you out... the french music i always take to the states to give them a taste of something different: charlelie couture, the wampas, and rita mitsouko.

there is always Nouvelle Vague. They are a French cover band that does covers of 80s punk and new wave music, but with a Bossa Nova sound. And they are pretty easy to find as well. They are a fun band to listen too. But is there any paticular type of Rock you are looking at?

Stereolab is an awesome band (well, the group's english but the singer Laetitia Sadier is french). Otherwise AS Dragon, Hushpuppies, Syd Matters, possibly Dyonisos. Good french rock bands are quite hard to find imo (French are better in electronic music).

You can listen to Le Mouv' (http://www.radiofrance.fr/chaines/lemouv/home/index_flash.php) radio station ; there are French rock sessions and maybe you'll find something that interests you there.

OK, there are also idiotic youth programs on this radio...

You can have some good surprises but it's true it never quite happens in 'mainstream'.

French pop and pop-rock has some palatable bands though. I'm not too much into it, but sometimes it comes across through radio or TV.

these guys made a comeback a few years ago and got bigger than they were in the 80s.

the song above is from the 'Paradize' album. it's kind of a slow song but it's a good one.

Can I get some feedback. how bad is it that I love Nadiya, a few songs from FF (Fonky Family), Cerena, Olivia Ruiz, Sandrine Kiberlain, Carla Bruni, BazBaz, and even a few songs from Sanseverino.

Try Manau, one of my favorites. It's a good mix of Celtic music from Brittany and rap.
