A little backstory:

I was a fan of Leicester City, but since they've been relegated it's hard to keep track, and watch games.

So I've switched alligences (spelling?)to the Lilywhites, and here's my reasoning:

It seems that the midfield and attack are filled with players that possess that intangible "flair", and are not boing to watch. I have always been a fan of Michael Carrick, and, although he is not the most popular player here, I love watching Reid play as well.

As a huge Juve fan, the signing of Davids doesn't hurt either :p

Now that that part is done with, would someone mind giving me a very short and sweet briefing on the club history since 1882.

Just the highlights, please.

Thanks,
Sean Rubio

welcome, here's the history:

http://www.spurs.co.uk/article.asp?hlid=212602

among other places...

it is hard to follow the CCC from America, though now that you can get Setanta in the home, that might change a bit:

While its available, I don't think I can get it.

I see you're in Berkeley! I'm in Walnut Creek.

I'm on DISH, and I don't think we even have an option to get Setanta.

We have GolTV and FSC though.

The only things you need to know are:

Bill Nicholson is THE God
Hoddle is a legend but not a God
Martin Jol is in the process of being deified
Frank Arnesen and Sol Campbell are rather disliked
Gary Mabbutt had his face smashed in and has a squeaky voice
Garth Crooks was good at football but isn't a good pundit
Graham Roberts was very very hard
Gazza scored a good goal against the scum at Wembley
Spurs were the 1st non-league side to win the FA cup back in 1901 (with a 20-stone goalkeeper nonetheless)
We like all thing yiddish (rye bread etc)
Eric the Viking played for us
4 into 2 doesn't go

To add on to Rmort's list:

Ledley is the King of the Lane
Robbo is England's number 1
3 goal leads mean nothing until the final whistle blows

to add further:

jurgen was german, but now he's a jew.

--though, admittedly, he's still acting a bit german these days.

I've been in your position before - supporting a non top-flight team out of country is neigh impossible. Can't keep a good fox down though so don't worry.

You picked a good time to be a Spurs fan though. This season should be fantastic.

Just remember, supporting Spurs is like supporting Arsenal, except with respectability.

Naco, Spurs are a jewish club (apparently not seen too many at the ground recently mind)

4 into 2 doesn't go. We've got 4 top quality strikers vying for 2 positions. They all get a little cheesed off from time to time

The JJB needs to have something good to get people to their stadium. The stadium is nice but no one turns up especially to see the Wigan football team.

why are spurs referred to as a jewish club?

why are spurs referred to as a jewish club?cuz we had a reputation of having a large jewish support, but Arsenal gets as many jews supporting them these days as Tottenham

The Tottenham area was notoriously known to have the most Jews in London living there.

Now that they have all got rich and moved to Hadley Wood, they are supporting Arsenal & Chelsea.

We are now known as the yids. You can be one to if you like. Send your application to Tottenham Hotspur PLC.
