Hello, wow, it's been a while since I posted here....
Anyway, my question is how you will be veiwing our matches this season, and what are the alternatives. I have DirecTV which includes Fox Sports Channel, GolTV and ESPN2 for Champions Leauge matches. It seems like the Setanta residential Channel will be showing our Champions Leauge matches...if we qualify...so i might sign up for that. I haven't heared about the price for the EPL package yet.
Maybe we can also use this thread to post what fixtures will be on TV here in the great US of A!

Ian, do you have the Setanta channel? I was wondering if it's worth the price.

Well, it launched too late towards the end of last season to really judge. I mean, the 1st div playoffs were nice, and seeing some MUTV programming was good. It remains to be seen if the channel is "worth it" when the league gets back into action as well as what their Champions League cover will actually contain....

i have setanta and find i worthy of the $10/ month...even in the slow month of july they show some decent games, including the milan v chelski friendlies and all kinds of MUTV reruns. they also do alot of international matches which u may or may not find interesting.

no trouble, except when it rains really hard. which isn't often to be fair, at least in DC.

so, when it says PPV does that mean if I pony up for the Setanta channel then I can watch for "free" at home?
or is it an additional charge on top of the $13/mo or whatever Setanta charges?

PPV means paying directv/dish/cable the whatever it will cost for the match. I referenced setanta because they list the ppv fixtures on their website.

I'm confused about your answer - did you answer his question? I'm not sure. I am considering purchasing Setanta as well but won't if I can't watch the MU games that are PPV.

Sorry, should have answered the question more directly. PPV is an additional charge on top of the $13 per month for Setanta.

FCUKERS! (oops, caps lock)
Setanta usually carries the TV rights to the games so that's why they're PPV - to pay back Setantas investment. you're saying the money goes to the cable/sat companies? I'd disagree and say that Setanta gets all/most of it.
in either case, if what you're saying is correct (that I'd have to pay beyond the regular monthly charge to watch the PPV games) then I'm not sure what reason there is to get Setanta, other than the MUTV stuff and such.
Ian, if you're around and have more info pls chime in.

FOX owns the rights to the EPL. It's them who offer the 2 games a weekend on PPV. They also sell the rights to Setanta for showing live in bars/pubs. These games are not shown on the Setanta Channel that you can get on DirectTV.

if that's true then the crow (humble) pie I just made better taste nice.
still it brings me back to my original thought: FCUKERS!

Thanks for the clarification , guys. I did have the misconception that if I bought Setanta I'd be getting the "missing" United games. I guess that you pay $13 to get MUTV and the Champion's League matches that ESPN doesn't show. At least that's all I would probably care too much about...
