Anybody know why both clubs wore change strips for the match against Ajax? Is that some sort of special kit for them?

The announcer said that neither club wanted to wear their red & white in deferrence to one another.

Ah, excellent. I didn't get to watch it, so never heard that.

Seems funny, though - two teams with similar schemes (although we're not using it this season) and neither one wears it on the field.

Clubs also sometimes wear their away shirts in home friendlies so that they can market them to their own fans as the proportion of fans that will go to away games and see it worn by the players regularly in the flesh is small.

Marketing. Now they will get all us suckers to go out and buy them.
