Less than a week until the 1st major clash, I know many of the suspicious Gooners wouldn't mind losing the CS because then like in the past, Arsenal have gone on to win the league.

I want to win just because I never want Arsenal to lose, but if it does mean that Arsenal hoist the EPL trophy at the end of this season and get to humiliate Roman's Army and Sir Red Nose than I'm all for it.

I see this match ending 1-1 and going to penalties.....where anything can and will happen.

"Good,
good,
good to be,
good to be a GOONER!"

I think the wing battles are going to be great. Pires/Reyes and Hleb/Ljun vs SWP/Cole/robben and duff/robben. Youre not going to see that much attacking talent on the field for a long time.(or at least until our home game against them 2 weeks later)

2-2 Arsenal win on pens. "Trophy number 2 of the season, thanks Jose."

We must throw this match. Play the starters for only 20 minutes or so and then mass substitutions......or are you only allowed 3 in the Shield?

I'd just like to see us play some entertaining football...as long as we get into chelski and dominate for good portions of the match I dont really care much about the score line. But thats just how I feel.

Seems like a nothing match since it's not league, but every year it's got great energy because it's everyone's first match. Could be a coming out party for Hleb if AW's bold enough to run him out. Can't freaking wait.

There is a lot of energy for this game, which why I don't like it. Who wants to lose anyone to an injury. I'll give this game a pass.

I don't think you not watching the game will prevent anyone from getting injured.

AW will give the match a fair run and let the chips fall where they may. Always hope to see a win, but want the team to be whole (no injuries or bans) for the opening of the regular season.

what specifically is it supposed to jinx? is it a general jinx or a prem results jinx? is it supposed to be that the loser does better than the winner? because last year arsenal won yet won more than ManU...

The is when the champion wins the sheild, they don't retain the title the following season.

I watched it, only to see the most glorious thing ever: RvP tossing that whiny bitch Alan Smith to the turf...

I dont have anything brilliant to add except beat those Blue Wankers and their gaffer. Dont add to their trophies.
This is one Red that will be supporting you guys.

I believe this has held true since the beginning of the Prem, if not longer. Also, is the jinx that the prior league champs fail to win the title again if they win the shield, or is it simply that whoever wins the shield does NOT win the title?
