I can't stand Curb Your Enthusiasm though. Larry David just irks me to the core! I tried to watch it a few times, but just listening to the guy made me want to kill him.
maybe my fave show of all time? okay, maybe not.. but its right there with the simpsons as far as laugh out loud moments.
and for the record, love larry david and you can see the dropoff in quality from the seinfeld chronicles when he left.

Because Jerry isn't an obnoxious ass. I just can't stand watching people be as much of an ass as he is in the show, IMO.

If any of you are getting geared up for the weekend and just can't wait, last year's community shield is on Fox Soccer Channel tonight.

If i was you i would cancel the plans for Saturday night. What will happen if you have a great time on Friday and want to hang out all weekend? Are you gonna say "Sorry, i have plans with my ex, who i'm not really over yet." Lame! Tell the ex that being friends right now isn't in the cards, and that you'll get back in touch with her when you've moved on and are in a new relationship. In my experience, she will realize what you mean to her approximately 5 minutes after you stop caring.
Just got off the phone with her. I told her that if all she wanted from me was friendship, that I need time. She's no longer coming to my birthday party, nor are we going out on Saturday night. Although we did agree to touch base before her birthday on 9/4 (the big 3-0).

Have to line up on the side of those professing their love for CYE. Probably one of my favorite television shows, ever.

Good man! Its tough, but its really the only way, its impossible to move on when your still hanging out with your ex. The emotional draining of maintaining that nearly dead relationship leaves nothing for someone new. Best of luck.

Very good move for YOUR emotional health Mike-and that is all we care about here! It will be tough going for a bit but you can always find someone here to talkto if you need an ear. It does not sound like you have been able to really try to get on with your life with her being as involved as she has been. Please keep your date with the new girl! :)

Thanks, it's just weird, because I was really surprised (although I guess I shouldn't have been) by the amount of emotion I felt when I walked into her parents' dining room. Prior to that, I felt like I had a pretty good grip on things; then last night, it all came rushing back. :(

Good job.
Friends....pffft.
Have to admit to a little hypocrisy here as I see my ex all the time and we are friendly....but we do have 2 kids together.

Oh, I'm definitely psyched about the new girl, and now, suddenly don't feel guilty about that anymore. Although this is probably a negative for most of you, but this new girl is a Yankee fan, which is an absolute plus with me! In fact, she suggested that for our date on Friday, we find some bar where the game is being shown. If things go well, I'll ask her to come to the Dark Horse to watch the Arsenal on Sunday.

Hey, Mike....it always helped me to get away for a while. So, if you need to get away I know of a pretty fun town in the midwest with a lot of Gooners.

Quite tempting...
Actually, my uncle is having a "cousins weekend" up at his place in upstate NY the weekend after next. Horseback riding, white water rafting, beer and wine tastings - may be just what I need - just as long as nobody asks me where my ex is!
