BvM Runs The Team At Match Speed

Rosicky Held Out – Ricken At It Again

http://bilder.sportsandbytes.de/bvb/Mannschaft_BL/RickenTraining_1106481555.jpg

Today, in “sweat-producing” temperatures, trainer Bert van Marwijk ran the BVB pros hard. It was obviously in reaction to the crappy effort the team gave in accomplishing nothing in the Aachen tournament. The “Fun-Factor” gauge registered zero. Instead, a very run-intensive session awaited the Borussen.

Ball work was also used to try to recover the team’s form. Eight days before the Bundesliga start next Sautrday in Wolfsburg, the coaches formed three squads who will permanently push each other.

Tomas Rosicky took a break today because of a nagging injury. (A small knee knock) Rosicky will be back tomorrow at the Bocholt tournament. Lars Ricken, who “celebrated” his comeback in Aachen, went through the full-speed training without a problem and set the example with a good showing. The offensive player still has eight days to get himself used to the necessary match toughness and possibly give the limp BVB offense a jump-start in Wolfsburg.

Van Marwijk zieht das Tempo an -
Rosicky geschont, Ricken wieder dran

Question, and didn't want to start a thread without asking. Is every match discussed on bigsoccer? With the opening of the Bundesliga season and round 1 v Wolfsburg at the weekend I was just curious.

:)

A new thread is usually started for each match. I guess one of us had better do that now that Catfish isn't lurking so much.

Week 2, we face Kuranyi, but not Lincoln, which I like because it's Lincoln who makes the Scheisse offense "go".

Here is the report from Kicker:

It appears Lincoln is suspended for EVERYTHING until 30 Aug - that means
League games (FCK, BVB, and Gladbach) as well as the 1st Round of the DFB
Cup against Bremerhaven!! He also received a 2-game suspension for the
League Cup!!!

Kurayni got a 3-game suspension for the League Cup - but it ends after
2007/08 even if he has not played in any games.

Nah no way... Bayern, Schalke and Bremen are very very good... then there is other teams that are better than us right now like Hertha and Hamburg.

I agree with this. There's no way we are going to directly qualify for the CL unless three of those teams collapse and we begin to play like we did at the end of last season.

Honestly, I don't think we played "badly" in Wolfsburg or against Schalke. I think we would have won in Wolfsburg and drawn against Scheisse were it not for mistakes by Christoph Metzelder.

I really think Bremen can challange Bayern for the title this season. Hell I think they will win it. They fleeced Bayern in the Ismael deal.

I agree Bremen will challenge Bayern for the title. I don't agree that Bremen "fleeced" Bayern on Ismael. Bayern paid a good price for a player who shouldn't have been available and who fits their needs.

If you want a "fleecing", look at what Chelsea paid Lyon for Essien.......

Posted By Footyfan1: Exactly. It means little. However, if we don't take three points next week in Duisburg, then, I think we should begin to worry a bit.

Bayern paid 6 million plus Frings (10million) for a player that I dont value much at all. I would not pay over 5 million for Ismael. But thats just me.

Dude, Frings was nothing more than a salary dump. Bayern didn't need him and didn't have room for him anymore. Smart move on their part. Ismael is the player they needed to fill a hole. For them to get Ismael with two years left on his contract is naturally going to cost more.

BTW, the total transfer fee for Ismael was valued at 8.5M according to transfermarkt.de. Frings was only valued at 3.5M. His stock had PLUMMETED in the last year.

Bayern will pay Bremen another three million if Bayern qualifies for Europe AND Ismael is named to the French National Team.

No, Ismael isn't the best central defender in the BL, but he's in the top five. What's more is that the guy who's arguably the best of them (Lucio) is now his teammate!!

This was a great deal for Bayern. You're about the only person I know who doesn't think getting Ismael with two years left on this contract for a player who was nothing more than huge salary excess and 5M Euros wasn't a good deal for FC Bayern.

They needed Ismael much more than they needed Frings or the money.

I hate Bayern, but this was another great move on their part. Whether you like the player or not.

All I'm saying is that Bayern got what the needed, but they paid a high price for it. Frings value will jump to 10 million again after this season and the WC, I believe.

I prolly dislike Ismael because of the times I have seen him play he either scored a own goal, got a red card or looked ugly. ;)

I don't think that that was a great deal, too. Ok, but there are much better defenders out there. Plus they should have bought at least 2 defenders. That could finally break their neck (I don't hope so as we "need" Bayern to finish in front of Schlacke ;-).

Name one they could have gotten that "cheaply"? And they got rid of a potential "cancer" in Frings.

Or have you forgotten that Frings was a "cancer" by the time he left Dortmund???

Why did they need two?? They didn't really need to replace Kovac. Especially with Demechilis coming around? Did you mean because of injury, which Demechilis eventually suffered??
