I read that Lentini joined Cosenza last year as a free agent. This is the same guy that cost Milan a staggering 13.3 million pounds way back in 1992. I understood he stayed at Milan for a couple of years and didn't produce the form that was expected of him. Where did he go after that? I can't find anything about his playing career in between 1994-2001. Can anyone help?

I know he was with Torino around 99-00 but I don't know all of his stops. Thought he was injured for a while. Wasn't he in a serious car accident?

Thanks Sue, I had hoped you would reply. I've found what I was looking for though.

I was just curious as, for me, he started the crazy spending in football in the 90's. I know that Baggio and Vialli had had similar size transfers at the time but they were household names and had played on the world stage.

Do you know the story of his car wreck? It happened before I started following calcio closely. I thought I heard it happened in '92, but from the looks of his career records, it must've happened in 93 or 94. The record transfer is amazing considering he is a midfielder and never scored that many goals even before the accident. Milan just had money to burn in those days, I guess. Or thought they did.

Crazy? Not really. The TV money was starting to pour in. If the TV money wasn't there, the big $$$$$$$ for transfers wouldn't have been there, either.

the price was the result of a bidding war between Juventus and Milan, the Agnelli were desperate to re-take control of serie A
probably overpriced anyway,he was never able to recover after the car wreck
there are also tax-evading issue regarding his transfer that fortunately for then-Torino President ... and Galliani became statute-barred just the other day
