Peter Wilt

first Peter Wilt post. This message went out to attendees at last night's meeting at the Highbury: Attachment will be posted later...gotta run...i think we have a game tonight against some team from somewhere else...

"Thank you everyone who attended last night's meeting, listened to the plans
for the soccer team and stadium in downtown Milwaukee and shared ideas and
thoughts. It was great to see so many enthusiastic people willing to help.

Following are the specific action plans going forward:

1) Create a Street Team to promote the project at youth soccer tournaments
and other public gatherings.

I believe the individuals who were interested in this included:

Mike Norton
Dan Kushlan
Brian Thomas
Andrea Alioto
Patrick Stanly

If you or someone you know is interested in helping with the MPS Street
Team, please contact me via emailo and i will provide details of our first
meeting.

2) Create a group, which will evolve into the team's Supporters Club. First
task is to generate a great turnout behind both the Chicago and Milwaukee
goals for the September 10, 7 pm game at Uihlein Soccer Park and create an
atmosphere that will impress. The leaders of this group will include:

Zach Schaefer - zschaefer@isiamerica.com
Zach Pennycook - zpennycook@hotmail.com
Jamie Sundquist - jamie@section8chicago.com
Ben Foldy - iwishiweremingus@sbcglobal.net
Joe Katz - Joe@theHighbury.com
Chris Dinwiddie - dinwiddiecgray@netscape.net

It is important that this group build itself with encouragement from
Milwaukee Professional Soccer, but not instruction or oversight from MPS.
The supporters group must be independent in order to be successful. Please
work amongst yourself and let me know if you need anything from MPS. If
anyone would like to be part of the Supporters Group, please contact one of
the individuals above.

3) PUBLIC INFORMATION COMMITTEE: The purpose of this group is to lobby
Milwaukee decision makers and influencers. Attached is an initial version
of a pass along letter we would like everyone to use to educate the public
on the details of the project and to let decisionmakers know how many people
care about this project. Please use this letter for now, send your own
messages to the email addresses in the letter and forward to your email data
base. We will forward to you an updated version of this letter once our
public information committee generates a new version.

The committee includes:

Steve Perrigo
Sue Walter
John Toutenhoofd
Peter Wilt

Thanks again to everyone for your participation and support. If you were
unable to attend and wish to get involved, please feel free to contact me
directly at PWilt@milwaukeeprosoccer.com.

Yours In Soccer,

peter"

We just posted a story on the Highbury meeting at www.madisonsoccercentral.com

This guy sounds like he knows what he's talking about:

“It’s going to take some organization to really sell the excitement of this game,” Section 8 member Zach Schaefer said. “It’s completely different than being at a Brewers game. It’s completely different than being at a Bucks game … It’s something different that you can sell on.”

:)

That guy is lucky another person said his name. Unless it would have been "a member of section 8."

Hey, I couldn't very well say "It’s going to take some organization to really sell the excitement of this game,” said one of the Zachs.

Would like to have more of the Wisconsin residents to sign up to the links above. And pass the link info onto other soccer fans, etc. Once I can get around 20, we will be sending out some more info.

Zach,

Do you know if Joe did anything with that e-mail list we all signed? Sounded like he had a goodly mob to add to the other list he mentioned.

I gave Joe my yahoo address, and I got an e-mail from his list this past Friday, about the MLS all star game. Did you get that e-mail?

The Highbury Pub is giving away 2 FREE tickets to an upcoming Wave United match during happy-hour all week, while supplies last.

Happy Hour is 5-8pm M-F
2-4-1 rails and domestics.

I would be happy to host another MLS meeting. Please let me know about possible dates. I would also like to sponsor a Wave United / Chicago Fire pep rally Sept 9th. The night before the match @ Uihlein. I think we could get a good turn-out from both sides.

Talk soon

I am having trouble getting on the yahoo group list, but I am on the Highbury one, will all the info regarding MPS filter down to me on that list?

Also a general question, can I get my entire youth club on some sort of informational email list? The u-10's and such might not need to know Highbury drink specials (yet), but the parents and coaches in my club may want to get involved in MPS/where they can, or just get news updates.

Thanks,
Brian

I have a question about the email list. Is this a digest-style list where I would get just one message a day with all the stuff folks sent that day, or would I be getting a billion individual messages a day?

Just wondering because I already get a huge bucketful of email every day.

I have no idea. I know that there are some settings that you can have.

jaime also mentioned maybe using madisonsoccercentral.com and their message boards so that we don't have to deal with a lot of yahoos here.

Yahoo lists membership can be set up can be set up so that you receive all e-mails, or a daily digest (or no e-mails at all, which seems to defeat the purpose).
