The Geico commercials are genius. They're so blatantly nonsensical, but they get the point across, and you remember who does them. Considering they really weren't a major car insurance company before this, and now everyone knows who Geico is; you can't say they aren't effective.

Second only to those Emerald Nuts commercials that ran for awhile.

There is reason to the madness, of course. They were way behind in market share and brand recognition to the major insurers, but they've bombarded the airwaves targeted pretty much every possible demographics with low budget ads. From an entertainment and creative standpoint, they're awful, but the marketing is genius.

The only problem is that they focus so much on price rather than the product, and the gags tend to be lighthearted, they're going to have problems if they ever decide to go after the high end market..
