Okay, help me out.
I thought Ikea is a store that sells home furnishings? Why is Ikea going to cause a ruckus at the game? I assumed there was a grand opening on that day and that would cause increased traffic, but now I read someting in another thread about Rough Rider parking being used for Ikea?
Is everyone going to be naked or are they going to have public executions? Please tell me people are not going to cause a traffic jam because of a store.
I am I just missing some crazy Ikea thing?

Please tell me people are not going to cause a traffic jam because of a store.I could tell you that... but I would be lying. And lying is bad.
IKEA openings are also good for hospital business, I hear.

And burb-inites from all over the Metroplex. If people are willing to drive all the way to Houston to get the latest in cheap yet funky Scandinavian styling then they will certainly drive from Tarrant to do so.
Ikea's have a history of causing hysteria when they open. Adding fuel to this fire is the grand opening hoopla where they will be giving away all kinds of good stuff, including $2,500 worth of home furnishings to one lucky, but obviously mentally imbalanced, Ikea fan.

yeah i saw something on the news last night about some chick who is ALREADY sleeping there, waiting in line to be the first person and get a $2500 gift certificate there. And I thought our 24 tailgate was fairly hardcore....

Everytime I drive by there (not often) they seem to be having some huge blowout sale lately. They're probably sweating big time.

Said Alan Chasak, chief operations officer at Dallas-based Eurway Inc.: "We think a lot of people will go to Ikea hoping to find what they want but will end up at Eurway because our level of customer service beats theirs."

There's been a boatload of articles in the DMN this week. Special shopping guide and look inside in Friday's edition <herky>!

I wonder how Eurway is feeling these days.
According to an article in the DMN, they are actually very happy about it. They believe it will bring attention to the contemporary furniture line and they claim to have higher quality. Actually, Rooms-to-Go is planning on building right next door. They all think the draw of 'going to IKEA' will help increase furniture sales across the board.
Also, IKEA opens a week from today, Wednesday Aug 3...Aug 6 is just the first Saturday it's open.
