Why do they let that freak broadcast? He's got all the on-air charisma of Knight Rider's talking trans-am. He reminds me of that unmarried forty year old uncle who comes to eat holiday meals and bores everyone with his tales of adventures in accounting. Later, when you go to sleep, he puts his weenie on your forehead.
For that matter, I hate Max Bretos too. Calm down, Max. You're not doing a Morning Radio Show, all banter and phoney enthusiasm.

yes, let's go back to Ty Keough and Roy Wegerle, or maybe Phil Schoen. Now those guys were quality.

Like he doesn't feel the game is good enough on its own. He potentially could be 'decent' if he were to toan it down.

Has Sigi ever been a color man for a US game?
If not, wrong forum.

Fair enough, but that's only because he approaches the games with a sense of humor. I'll take that over the gravitas of Glenn Davis and Ridge Mahoney or even Ley's attempts to impart drama.
I like Bretos. I do have a few minor bones to pick with him. But the breezy chemistry that he has with Hopkins is something that I rather enjoy.
Sigi's cool. A bit dull but, hey, the guy seems like he has a two-liter jag going all the time. You can't expect him to seem wide awake.

I actually thought Wegerle was a great studio analyst.
Then again, I might've just been relieved to see him anywhere other than on the field.

I like Max as well. It would be irritating if he didn't know the game or players but he does. Then again, ANYTHING is better than the ESPN crew. Although I am Irish, I wouldn't necessarily pick a no-name Irishman with excruciating commentary to do soccer broadcasts.
I actually like Wynalda's comments during the DC United game the other day. What do you think of Adu so far? Response: "His job is to score goals and he hasn't been." Of course, he scored that cracker later but Eric was right at the time. We need a bit more of that no-holds barred analysis of US players. I love how English announcers will just say, "terrible effort."

I'm with you on that, son. Check out a game involving our broads. The telecasts are two-hour long testimonies. Julie Foudy recently spoke of their "blue collar work ethic." Can you believe that crap?

I must chime in on this one.. during the Real game these two twats couldnt stop their gobs... the whole time talking the "american educate me as i watch" commentary... crap.... during the game miles even had to interrupt his banter to say "and there is a shot on goal"... just enhance whats going on the field.. throw away american football gridiron commentary 101 school of broadcasting...

Can't disagree with that, mate. Miles drove me right up the wall with the gushing and lame attempts at literacy. I finally turned it off. My wife said, "What's wrong, my love?" My answer? "I'm going to kill someone, that's what's wrong."

Max's pseudo-jocularity is matched only by Sigi's bland droning. These two must quit or risk making soccer in the US appear like the Semi-Annual Cheerleader Cheer-offs ("Live from Atlantic City!") or the Lumberjack-offs.

Cogent, amusing and, above all, well written.
