Spoilers contained within, so beware:
The show doesn't start for a bit, but I came across this interesting bit:
It seems two of the survivors will be former players. According to www.survivorphoenix.com the two players will by Bobby Joe and Stephanie, the two survivors from the most recent series (they were the last two left on the loser tribe).
It doesn't say what role they're gonna play ... are they going to be normal contestants? will they have some other role? I would imagine if they were normal contestants they would have targets on their backs similar to those the former winners had in All-Stars.
Also interesting is that former NFL quarterback (not a very good one) is on the show: Gary Hogeboom.
When i first heard that two of the contestants would be former players I assumed it would be the two from the previous episode who were eliminated before getting to play. I'm glad their not bringing back that singing lady, I couldn't have taken it.
Mods: I didn't post this in the other Survivor thread because they are on two different editions of the show and I didn't want people to get spoiled by accident. :)

Heard the Hogeboom thing earlier today. I'm blah on that.
I'm pleased that Stephanie is coming back in some way. Grrr, baby. Very Grrrr.
And the singing lady set my dogs to howling. Thank God she's not the one coming back :D

Bump. New Survivor this Thursday. Previews look pretty good, 2 new twists backing what Ringo posted in his 1st post in this thread. Teams start off with a nice 11 mile hike thru the jungle.

I'll tune in as well, even though I haven't enjoyed the last two survivors too much. It feels like a long time passed since the last one so I'm feeling this. besides i need a bigbrother replacement and something to watch before CSI. :D

Well, nice to see that Stephanie will no longer be the Sunderland of Survivor after tonight. :)

Interesting start to the season. I'm thinking the guys from the N tribe pushed themselves too hard and tried the macho bit to not show weakness. It cost them the immunity challenge.
Jim was definitely the right choice to leave tonight. That torn bicep would have been a HUGE handicap in the upcoming days had he stuck around.

could be interesting. nice how the new yorker jumped on probst a little. keep him on his toes a bit.
in conjunction with last season I'm glad to see that being strong is an asset and not a liablity. that was my least favorite part of the show -- all the good strong people (phsyical and mental) were always voted off too early. glad to see they're trying to change that.

all i got to say is 11 miles the nakum tribe is in no condition of winning any immunties if they get there strenght back but i see that nurse being an essential part of the team man she wont be voted off thats for sure

Yawn.
I liked how the tribes were mixed up last night -- I thought that was kind of creative. Other than that, not a very interesting episode.

this series is boring me.
it will be interesting now that Gary has the girl that knows his identity on his own tribe.
what's shocking about that is that she knows him from CENTRAL FREAKIN' MICHIGAN. He must of been there 20 years ago ... that's pretty good recall. and the fact that the man's aged in those 20 years. it's impressive that she picked him out.
i think after this one, they should take a break and let the enthusiasm build back up. wait a year. i'm as huge of a survivor fan as there is, but even I'm getting bored with it.

It will be interesting to see how the Danni/Gary thing plays out...
I wonder if the producers had this conflict in mind when putting the two of them on the show.

It's never boring. The challenges have been good this season, even if some of the contestants are lacking.

Its clear from the way the ratings are going that it is boring some of the shows' core audience and that the reactions posted here are not anomalous; but I can't say I see why. Its certainly entertaining me. I'm not sure the stepped up intensity of the challenges is something I'd care to see every time, but its always interesting to see the ways changes affect the flow of the game...
I thought Hogaboom took a horrendous risk not throwing the clubs; had they lost Danni could have protected herself by calling him on it-- surely even given that clubs are not footballs his chances of hitting any of the tiles were better than any of the others'...
And the tug of war approached something I have thought they should do for a while; individual challenges for tribal results. Whoever's the best archer wins immunity for the tribe, that kind of thing...couple it to a free pass in the winner's next council to make it interesting if the last two are same tribe just so as to to play it out all the way...
How about artificial or semi-artificial environments? "Survivor Catacombs," "Survivor Iceberg," "Survivor Boot Camp," "Survivor Labirynth?" A challenge where the winning tribe gets to vote one of the losers off? A reward challenge where you get to trade one of yours for one of theirs? A survivor with no tribes? Would there be no alliances? They really haven't scratched the surface yet...

see, to me the challenges are the most boring parts. on my tivo, I usually hit the fast-forward button one notch ... I can still see the action perfectly (just quicker) and I don't have to hear probst yelling 'Yuxha is in the lead!' every five minutes.
the best part is the dynamics between the players ... and they haven't had much characters since the season rupert and jonny fairplay were on.
also, did you guys hear that this is probst's last season as host?
he should be a contestant if there's ever a celebrity survivor. that would rule.
