I am sitting on 3.6 mil right now :)
It does me no good in the standings, I'm locked into my finishing spot (5th or more likely 6th) so I'm going to sit on it and get me some of that interest.....
Is there not a more profitable trainee to be found? That's a lot of cash!
Question: I hired ten pyschologists after my back-to-back losses, but I won Sunday's game and my confidence is back up to wonderful. So I have my 10 pyschos, and a home game with the #5 up ahead (I'm #4)...is there any chance of an over confidence event if I don't fire the pyshos now?

LOL, I had almost 5 million in the bank...for about 2 days, before I spent it. Look where it got me. A win against a team I'd never beaten. :)
I now have about 1.6 mil which I'm going to probably sit on for the rest of the season.

Would you 2 stop gloating DAMNIT... I'm feeling rich, sitting on 730K and awaiting the sale of a trainee and driving force of my team which should put me near 2M which will all be spent right away.
Ok, b1tching over...
Questions...
By season's end I'll have lets say 2.5M in the bank.
I will need 1 very high end PM trainee (basically looking for him to come in right away and be either 2nd or 3rd IM right away)
Other than that I've got options... my defence is pretty good now and should be fine till midseason next year when one of my defenders will become new coach. My attack is crappy, I've got good wingers, and don't really need help there, but I'm also sitting on a Solid GK and Excellent/Solid strike pairing.
Can I actually upgrade both GK AND Striker? Which will be more important?
Another question... my midfield is pretty good right now, If I don't sell my trainee when he pops to Brilliant, then some time early next season I'll have a Brilliant/Brilliant/Formidable (if I wait until midseason, it'l bee B/B/Out) which will be enough not to dominate the series, but to make sure I either win midfield against even the top teams in my series or stay close. The question then becomes, do I stop training PM at that point and start training keepers? I'm thinking sell off a lower end PM trainee and buy a 17yo excellent and a 17 yo solid and train them up to titanic (how long will that take, like 2seasons?) and sell off one and use the money to buy a good striker and re-invest in PM trainees or possibly Forward trainess?
Is this a viable plan/idea? Even if you don't want to look at the big picture, am I off on my estimates? Any help would be appreciated guys... oh, all of you, not just the money grubbing bums.

I was wondering how I passed up Raytown and Dynamo KC in the ratings. :D

I'd recommend against getting a 17-excellent keeper; first of all, they'll be tough to find (most anybody who's going to train a 17 will take them a lot past excellent), secondly, they'll only have a couple of weeks of training on a high solid. If you do something like this early in the season, get an 18 and not a 17, they still train just as fast (you'll only slow down a hair at the back end of the schedule when they hit 20) and you don't pay the absurd U20 penalty.
Training a keeper to titanic takes about three seasons. You come out of it with a guy who will put up about 7* in passable form.

If you want me to gloat, I could say that I will have a WC PM that will be sold at the end of this season too. :) And I'll likely sit on that money too. :)

Do you plan on promoting to DIV? Do you think you're midfield will be strong enough early next season to take you into DIV?
My midfield is very good right now, but not strong enough for DIV. I will not sell any of my top trainees until they can effectively be my starting IMs for the next 8-10 seasons, which should be mid-season next year. THEN I'll start training something else, most likely scoring.
You're not going to like my advice, but I'd recommend spending almost all your money on the youngest, highest-rated PM trainees you can find and riding those guys for a little while. If I remember right, your trainees are kinda old, so it wouldn't be very efficient to train them much longer.
With every decision in HT, both the present and the future have to be taken into consideration. I weigh "the future" at about 80/20 over the present. What's the point of spending money on players that will make you competitive in your DV series when you won't be ready for the DIV jump if you promote?
Just my opinion, not the gospel of course. :D

great advice of course... and it makes sense... the reason I wanted to stop training IM beyond having 2 brilliants was that since one is 22 now will be 23 by the time he pops or close to it, my other trainees are at excellent and might be at formid, but I was worried that they might not be strong enough to make sure that I stay in DV. However, that thinking is a) defeatist and negative and b) medium term as opposed to long term.
I want my attack ratings to improve because they are really crappy right now, and I know if I had 2 proper strikers... one formid and one outstanding w/ decent experience I'd promote or get damned close w/ my current midfield.
what kind of PM trainees are u suggesting?
Olger Dorrestein
TSI = 650 , 17 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and weak leadership abilities
Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: passable Passing: passable
Winger: poor Defending: poor
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: disastrous
that's the last trainee I bought and he cost me 300K... the question becomes...
do I retool for when my high-end trainees are sold (I'll sell one when he pops to brilliant sometime end of this season or early next season) by dumping some of the not so great trainees? or do I wait them out, in hopes that they will be strong enough to keep me up in DV?
here are my trainees...
this guy gets a half training spot, but I should probably be giving him a full spot, due to his age.
Silviu Popescu [2 accumulated bookings]
TSI = 700 , 18 years, solid form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities
Stamina: weak Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: passable Passing: poor

Serafim Silva
TSI = 1 660 , 19 years, solid form
Has disastrous experience and solid leadership abilities
Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous

This guy popped like a week ago, so he's should be brilliant early next season too.
Edelio Talmadge [1 accumulated booking]
TSI = 5 740 , 19 years, passable form
Has wretched experience and poor leadership abilities [Powerful]
Stamina: excellent Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: outstanding Passing: inadequate

wont pop again this season
Rodney Hurley [1 accumulated booking]

don't know about "Oli Gunnar" could be a formid by week 4-6 next year.
Oliver Machuca

Has disastrous experience and weak leadership abilities [Quick]
Stamina: passable Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: excellent Passing: inadequate

Lacy pops quickly for some reason, usually 1 week earlier than expected, excpet the last time it was 2 weeks longer... so I've no idea.
Lacy Mahon
TSI = 3 140 , 20 years, solid form
Has disastrous experience and poor leadership abilities
Stamina: excellent Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: excellent Passing: inadequate
Winger: inadequate Defending: poor

Stephen aka "u can call me Gerrard" is the guy who should pop to brilliant by early next season.
Stephen Skotnes [1 accumulated booking]
TSI = 7 950 , 22 years, passable form
Has poor experience and passable leadership abilities
Stamina: excellent Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: outstanding Passing: inadequate
Winger: weak Defending: poor

That's 8 trainees... there's the one guy who gets the %50 almost all the time and then based on injuries/form another guy gets another %50 spot.

I would keep Talmadge and look for more guys like him. 18yo excellents/formids and 19yo formids/outstandings are the way to go and the lowest you should look. I can't see any reason to buy anyone lower than an excellent, the value earned each week in training is too low.
Another thing I'm experimenting with is how I use the 4 half-training spots. I have two starting wingers for two of the spots, and I'm training 18/19yo excellents with the other two. The though behind this is that wingers usually only gain around 150K per pop while IMs (even training at half speed) gain at least 450K per pop.
There's other things I do too to maximize my profit. Whenever I have an IM about to pop, I start searching for a guy his age at one level lower with HIGH tsi. This indicates that they may pop soon. Therefore I sell the brilliant guy who just popped for 1.7mil and replace him with an outstaning that I think will pop very soon for around 1mil. If he pops within 4-5 weeks it was a financially prudent decision. If he pops within a few weeks it was a GREAT move financially (500-700K value gained in a few weeks of training), and hardly even affects my team's performance on the field.

ok... I read you... now going to traul for 18/19yo formids and the like... will sell my 20yr old trainees at their next pop and replace them w/ better and younger trainees... I wont go anywhere financially - so I wont help my team get any better in other areas, but maybe I can stay up and then by this time next year have a fully streamlined program.
Oh, w/ regards to using the half spots... I have an experiment going.. I bought a very expensive winger who'd usually be a wing trainee, he's outstanding and has poor PM... my idea is that as he gains experience and starts to get me more stars (he gets 3 now, 3.5 in excellent form) he will rise in PM and since he already justifies a starting spot now, and is only getting better, by the time I'm ready for an upgrade at his position (likely 5 seasons), he'll still be worth the 900K I spent on him due to his increased PM... in the past I've lost my investment on wingers when its time to replace them so this time I wanted to see if I could at least hold value.
EDIT: I needed to refresh my memory on the numbers, and I just did... my winger if I get him to passable PM by 23 (that should be attainable) will be worth about 1.2M which is only 300K more than he cost me, BUT he's a starter all the way and is a vital part of my team and will be for his entire stay, which is not the case for my trainees usually.

Hey BTK, REal New York, I see you just got your team. Looks like you have a couple of nice TSI players you could sell off. it also seems you got a passable coach. Did you buy him? or did you get him with the team?
