My best batsman is strong, and then I've got some proficient and competents to round out the 5. However, the one that's putting up the best stats is beyond training age (26) which sucks.

Aside from Seargeant (who's already my best batsman on stats, aside from possible stamina issues), I've got problems with putting together both batting and concentration.

I'd like to think that my bowlers would not concede 30-40 (or more) to him, although I don't usually hold a good batting lineup below 250. With woeful form and woeful bowling, I'd think he'd give up runs by the bucketful as well -- I might consider him as a fifth bowler if he was in really good form, but my experience with a similar bowler hasn't been all that good.

his form's only crap cuz he never gets to play... he's a spinner and I've got a green pitch... they key (for me) is to play great batsmen 1-5 and then have handy players from 6-8 who can all do fairly well w/ the bat and the ball (it just so happens my guy at 8 is my best bowler) and to tweak my orders to maximize the potential of the players, my batting platform is set by 1-5 and even if I lose a couple quick wickets, I've still got some capability so I wont ever get bowled out for like 200. You see, unless a team has 5 top class bowlers - either the top half of my lineup faces mostly crap bowling which will lead to a total of over 300 and the bottom half faces great bowlers who will clean up the tail easily, or the top half faces the good bowlers and should come out relatively even w/ me looking to score in the 250 range and when the crap bowlers come out, my less accomplished batsmen have a chance to make some bonus runs and get me over 275.

Bowling is much easier... the best batsmen will ALWAYS bat first to give them the most time at the crease and my aim is to remove them, even if it costs me some runs, as soon as possible. So I have my best bowler bowl attacking (to get early wickets which he almost always does) which paves the way for my not so good bowlers to face the lesser batsmen of the other team.

the guy i beat on friday started a thread in the global sledging about his collapse.

he went form 144-2 to 169 all out.

this will probably happen to me this week, but i have won 7 matches in a row including friendlies!

Ugh... I haven't arranged a friendly yet. All of a sudden, everything has collapsed for me, and I'm just trying to hold onto second.

Sir, you have been challenged!

can we play at my place next week? (I should have turned down the challenge, I need every penny I can get, including attendance money for friendlies, being 90K in debt.)

48-2 after 11 overs, this ain't going to be good. once number 5 comes up i'm going down fast

I'm starting to collapse. I only came up with 175 runs today. I desperately need to change my tactics, as I might have gone too aggressive.

112-2 after 22 overs. 5.09 run rate. the run rate has gone down from the high 5s in the overs during the teens. i figure i'll be all out for like 150 after my collapse

Managed to get my highest score yet today, more than 370 :D

He made 200-something, but I won fairly easily. Still in 4th though as the top three all won.

best commentary line:

29.1 6 Bristow to Edwards
Huge six! That man in the crowd plucked the ball right out from infront of the nice ladys face, he might get lucky tonight!

not great at the wicket today... I usually get 2-3 50's out of my first 4 batsmen... but not today... only 1 got to 50 and only one other got above 30... not well done at all, there's still some hope but we've hit a rut and cant score... RR down to 4.6 an over and the score is 147/3... we've got a shot at making maybe 250. I've got 2 guys capable of 50's coming to the crease next and one who could get me 30... Hell, from here I could get to 270, but I doubt I will.

Even if I do get to 270, its highly unlikely that I'll be able to pull off the win, this guy put up 290+ in all his matches save one. Hopefully my Strong Bowler will be able to take some early wickets, I won't be able to contain him, my only shot will be to bowl him out.

Well, I got the help I needed from 2 of my batsmen and we made it to 274/5

thanks in main to some late heroics by my skipper Dushantha who smashed 37runs of 20balls and Flynn who managed 34 from 40.

The other team is playing aggressively and they bat all the way down to like 8 so I'm in for a test.

My ace bowler has only managed 2 wickets in his opening spell. They are going along at about the run-rate so unless I manage a wicket or two from some of my lesser bowlers, I'll be in a spot of trouble.
