For some reason that I can't think of right now, I guess I played "Go For It!" today -- No wonder I got 375 runs. Hmm, my players are now "fatigued" :D

I'm in the middle of a good all-around performance that should turn into a ~100-run win. The batsmen were a bit weak in the lower part of the order, but I got two 50's from my second and third batsmen. The openers didn't bowl quite as well as I had hoped, but the middle has come on like a freight train, with my best bowler putting up a 10-3-19-3 line (two of the three wickets are huge because they are two of my opponent's best batsmen) and my fifth working on a 7-1-19-5 (!) line (with four of those taken in a row for a hattrick).

The target I posted to chase is 258-9. The required run rate is now over seven, which isn't impossible but I'd be pretty shocked if my bowlers conceded it.

Well, stranger things have happened, but w/ out taking too many wickets, my guys have managed to keep the run rate down. The other team is 192/4 but the req. run rate is now at about 7runs an over for the remaining 12 overs. Its not impossible by any means, but my top gun will be in to bowl the last few overs and my suprisingly good no. 4 bowler has put in 7 overs for just 22 runs and he should be on soon.

It will be interesting... stay tuned.

I'm up to 178-9; it looks like the 100+ run margin won't be materializing, but with the required run rate still above seven (despite a bad 10+ run over allowed in the same over where the ninth wicket was taken) it would take an upset of epic proportions for me to lose this match.

Dempster finishes up at 10-1-33-5, easily his best bowling performance ever. My MOM is still Jamie Newsome for his 10-3-19-3 bowling line, though.

other team at 198-9 in the 44th over. their last batsmen just hit two singles and a six. This guy needs to move him up in the order or something.

the required run rate for the last 6 overs is 12.5 and he's at 4.5

I wound up with a win by 74 runs. 258-9 to 184-10. The last out was the second wicket taken by my lone spin bowler, described as "pitched about a foot outside off and come back sharply through a massive gate taking the off stump with it." Both of the top teams lost today, so things may be tightening up a little bit. The club I play today never plays friendlies, I don't know if they're at risk of becoming inactive.

Its over... we took them to the wire, well, almost to the wire, but my bowlers could not get the wickets and in the end 274 for that team is childsplay... on the bright side, this is their 2nd lowest total. They did it w/ 3 overs and 5 wickets to spare though... I'm crestfallen... we'd won like 6 games in a row including friendlies and I was hoping to make a push for a podium spot. Its all over now.

First page.

Do friendlies matter? I think I've played one before. I really should figure out how to play this game sometime.

edit: turns out I've won my last 3 league games. I rule.

i'm not sure what the importance is with friendlies, besides some money from tickets, and being able to mess around with your lineup

Do friendlies matter?Less so than in Hattrick, since players get training regardless of whether they've played. They are still helpful for keeping up form (same as HT), and moderately useful for testing out new things, with that use somewhat limited by the makeshift lineups you may be playing against.

e.g. of late, I'm playing considerably worse bowlers in my friendlies, so you can't necessarily draw any conclusions from the scores you put up.

Is morale like team spirit? No, morale is like confidence. Fitness is like team spirit.

Somehow I beat the #1 team in my league! I moved from last to 5th. :D

I honestly have no clue what I am doing though. I have my same players I've had the whole time. I don't want to risk going out to buy anyone because I have no clue what players are worth to buy or sell and don't want to screw myself over somehow.

West Indies III.10

III.10? I always play that Vortex United guy for my friendlies (he's the only one that accepts when I do remember to send them out) and I smoke him. How is he leading your division? Last time we played I held him to a total of 63 runs. :D
