black is really not a good choice for home jersey.
It attracts the Sun light, makes you hot and tired

I know almost all the games are played in the late afternoon, but I guess there are occasions while the Sun is till up in the sky...

I have a couple of DC shirts which are black, but I can't wear them while I play soccer or caually during summer days...

Any chane of changing it? myabe we can keep it for the away jersey...

Can you think of any other team has black home jersey?

Most home games are at night (730PM start times). The sun isn't a problem then.

The only games that occur during the day are to accomodate double-headers, and the baseball team has fixed that problem; or for national TV coverage. Which is only a couple of times a year.

Also, the game jerseys that United now wear, have vents, and new fangled materiels, and are fairly lightweight.

Granted, the game against LA was an extreme condition, but the black jerseys are a key element in the DC United brand. It makes United easy to identify in almost any highlight reel.

I see no problem with our jersey. I think the team responded to fears of our teams colors affecting our play this past weekend.

like I said another problem is fans like me, who want wear either jersey or t-shirts when practicing/exercise or just casually. And actually Summer days are perfect time to wear them casually...

Wear the away jersey, join La Barra and wear our white strip or buy a white skull t-shirt from Begbie/McOwen.

Or just go shirtless, like Nick and big Rob! :)

I wear a black DCU shirt all the time when outside during the summer. Perhaps you're at fault, not the shirt.

If you have come here looking for sympathy or even support for changing DCU's kit colors you have most certainly come to the wrong place. You're talking to a bunch of people here who bleed for the Red & Black! Especially the black part! We've lived and the players have lived through many a game in the heat of DC summers wearing black, and well for some of us through the dead of winter too! (Remember Harbour View!)

You can buy a white or red DCU T-shirt or training shirt to wear casually or to play pick-up in.

For example: http://www.mlsgear.com/product_detail.asp?CAT=cat-mens&SKU=1000651
http://www.mlsgear.com/product_detail.asp?CAT=cat-mens&SKU=1001353
http://www.mlsgear.com/product_detail.asp?CAT=cat-mens&SKU=1000811

You can also buy the white away jersey to wear casually. You'll still represent the team and you'll be a bit more comfortable.

I think we have to keep it black. I think we tend to win more in black, plus we look like bad-@sses in black.

My rec team shirts are black. We just have to suck-it up when the heat is on.
My only problem is that when you play night games under Fairfax county lighting, it can be hard to pick out teamates when the other team wears a bright color. You seee the bright colors first.

Lamest. Thread. Ever.

But to happier subjects - who hasn't thought "there's DC United" on the latest adidas advert?

Dear eandy, if you think you have a problem with it, you should hear the parents of my girls team which wears black because of DC. If you're worried about color you could always pick another team - Dallas fans are happy with their new clothes, the Crew has a sun repelling yellow, Mutiny 97 has a nice green kit, the possibilities are endless, unlike a discussion about DC wearing anything but black.
