Now that the Gold Cup is over we will get Quaranta and Olsen back. I think it will be interesting to see who will get sent to the bench. Adu? Gros? Kovalenko? Simms? Carroll?
I don't think Nowak can sit Adu after "the goal." I wouldn't put it past him, though. Of the other four that I listed, I think Kovalenko and Carroll are most likely to lose their spot. I also wouldn't put it past Nowak to sit Tino and Ben though.
Thoughts? Opinions?

After watching Tino go the final 60 minutes in the Gold Cup final and score the first PK I don't see how he can be kept off the pitch. He was absolutely on fire out there, whipping in dangerous crosses with either foot and playing some D as well. Even Ben got in at the end when DMB cramped up and looked good.

there was really no need based on the original post. We all knew the GC would be over today and the guys would be coming home.

True. But now other people have posted things about the game, so adding an [r] is appropriate.
That said, I don't personally give much of a ********. People who don't want to know the result of a soccer game should stay probably away from a soccer website but I don't make the rules.

I guess I'm in the minority but I was not impressed with Quaranta. He played a minimum of defence. He had his 2 or 3 dangerous dribbling runs, but there also a lot of times he let a Panamanian get the ball due to a lackadaisical attitude.
He would be trouble as a winger in a 3-5-2. I'd rather see him in a 4-4-2 where someone can have defensive responsibilities.

I'm with you. Tino is light years ahead of where he was last year, physically and in his game. I think he improves DC immediately and I think it'll be hard for Nowak to keep him off the field.
I think this is the scenario the coaching staff was looking for when they put this team together. Everyone coming back healthy and fighting for playing time in practice. A good defender when the transfer window opens and we could be set for another memorable second half run.

We don't need no stinkin' clock. I know what time it is. It's time to kick the rest of MLS in the jimmies. :D

That's the kind of problem we should have all the time- sitting 2 internationals. Who ever sits may well be determined by how well the others recover from the effects of 2 games in 100 degree temps. Both Gomez and Moreno seemed to be hit the hardest, but I don't see them getting benched when they are finally clicking with Adu. Olsen is very well rested after the suspension and not playing today.

One could imagine:
---------------Rimando
Prideaux------Boswell-----Wilson
----------------Olsen
Quaranta---Kovalenko-----Gros
---------------Gomez
------Moreno-----------Adu
About the defenders, we'll see how it all shakes out with Erpen and Namoff coming back. I think though that this is out most skilled lineup in the midfield and forward.

We won.
Now we need an [R]
Like all national team players on DC United both Quaranta and Olsen should sit on the bench for the next few games. ;)

On form, Quaranta has to start somewhere - right wing, forward, you name it. I like the idea of him on the right side, with Gros or Guppy on the left. How about Gros, a very good header, up front with Moreno, Guppy at left wing and Q at right wing? Something like:
Rimando (or Perkins!)
Prideaux(Stokes) Arena (Prideaux) Wilson
Quaranta Olsen Gomez Guppy
Adu
Moreno Gros
This lineup is for the next match, with Boswell sitting.

I am more prone to sit Kovalenko for now and go with Clyde. Give Carroll a chance to catch his breath.
With the tightness of the upcoming schedule, it's nice to have such depth except on D. We are starting to look a little thin again back there.
Come on, is Kenny Arena that bad?

Santino definitely needs to be in the lineup, I think Dema is the one to go to make room for him. Ben can step in for Carroll, or move Simms back and Olsen up.

I don't want to throw a jinx on us, but I've got a inkling of a feeling that we are setting up just like last season to go on a tear for the last two months and bring home another big piece of silverware again.
Players starting to round into form, coming back from injuries, a new argintine, a deep bench during a tough run of games, and a coach who will not accept failure or quitters.
I pity the rest of the league as they stand bewildered (again) as we hoist the MLS cup and the Open Cup this year.
Yeah, I said it.....
