After just looking for a couple off years, I decided to jump in. I have been coaching for 6 years (rec). Started with my grand-daughters 2nd grade team (U7) and stuck with the girls even after she went to a select team at U10 (no one else was here to coach). Being that I am just a bit younger than dirt, I never played the game as a youth (who did in the 50's in the USA). I have learned to love the game, and I try to pass this on to my girls. I think I do a fair job of teaching skills as I have had 9 girls move on to select play by U13, and 1 on to premier. Now the club has decided it's time for me to move up too, so this year I am the Asst. Coach for U13 girls select team. Moving out of my comfort zone like I always tried to get the girls to do. This will be the coach, the girls and my first go at full field 11 v 11, so I am a bit nervous about the season. I will be using a lot of the ideas that I have read here. Wish me luck.
