FULL TIME
Good performance in the 1st half. Mido was really good, finally we got to see Mido-Keane upfront but you would have expected Keane to set Mido up not the other way round.
Cerny again was first class, i haven't seen all the games from the tournament but i would put him as the best keeper of the tournament.
Routledge showed great feet again, he will win us a awful lot of free-kicks, Essien seemed to get frustrated with his tricks.
And we are around £1.2m better off :)

Great performance. Below is THBN's article.
Spurs 3 – 1 Lyon
Spurs win the Peace Cup in South Korea.
An amazing game in which Spurs dominated the first half from start to finish, scoring three goals with Kelly scoring from a deflected shot and Keane rapping up his brace.
Lyon played much better in the second half but could penetrate Tottenham’s backline. The French champions were awarded a penalty and scored it late on the second half after the referee had judged that Gardner handballed in the area.
As Spurs fans, we must really take great comfort from this thrilling display from our lads. Remember, Lyon not only one of the best teams in Europe, but are also the current French champions.
The players that really stood out for me were the following:
Cerny. Not just a great display in today’s match, but in the other group matches in which he played. Many people say that Chelsea have the best two keepers in the land in Cech and Cudicini, but I can assure you that Cerny is better than Cudicini.
King. The lad gets better and better with each season. So strong and reliable when called upon.
Carrick. I know that many of you feel that Carrick is a waste of space, but I can assure you that without him sitting in front of the back four orchestrating every pass by breaking down the oppositions attack, there would be no Spurs as we currently know them. Make no mistake; Carrick is the player that makes the entire team tick.
Tainio. Calm, assured, positive, confident. One of the finds of the season. The lad just doesn’t stop running. His through balls are also great.
Marney. If he continues, he will be our Steven Gerrard. He still has a lot to learn, but this young lad can tackle, pass and has a thunderous shot. His dead-ball specialties aren’t bad either.
Mido. He should be our left winger. His superb crossing led to Keane’s goals today. I am sure Martin Jol will be looking to make Mido’s move permanent and with Roma bankrupt, I am sure a deal can be sorted out quickly.
Keane. Superb. I hope he signs his contract and stays for many years to come. He can work on his goal celebration though.
So there you have it. We have much to look forward to in the coming season. If we can emulate the performance of today against many teams in the premiership, then there is no reason that we won’t be able to make the Champions League 4th spot.
The only sour note of the day was when Pedro Mendes was substituted for Marney. Mendes had come on at the start of the second half and was replaced by Marney with around 10 minutes to play. It was obvious that he didn't want to come off. When he did finally come off, he threw his shirt to the ground and walked off down the tunnel not looking too pleased.
Spurs will receive prize money of around £1.2 million plus a further £200,000 for appearances. The prize money of this tournament is greater than the League Cup prize money, which is around £1 million.
As winners, Tottenham will be invited to participate in next years Peace Cup.
Well done to the lads and the management at Spurs.
....Routledge seems to drift away in the second halves of games I've seen of him. I hope it's because he's unfit and there is no other reason.

I'm delighted :D Been a great preseason workout, seen a lot of players on the pitch, some hard games and some promising attacking football.
It's a trophy, a big cheque and hopefully some new fans out in Korea.

....this squad can get us into the Champions League, so long as they stay focused.
Liverpool are sure runners for that 4th spot, but I feel they will finish about Man U. It will be between us and the mancs in the race to the last CL spot.

Anything but Europe would be a huge disappointment. Champion's League is possible, but this is a young squad, so realistically 4th or 5th is the goal. However I think Poshy's enthusiasm is well founded. We need to work towards Europe but hope for the big prize because there is a great chance to see someone slip. It could be Pool because Rafa is building a European team and he has yet to figure out the league, so the possibility of slipping again is real. Man U is having some difficulties, but I don't see them as the team to slip. In fact I see them giving Chelsea more of a run than anyone. Arsenal seems to me the team that might falter (and no not just because of who the are). Viera leaves a big hole in their squad and a bunch of 18 year old aren't going to fill it yet. Plus the traitor is losing it and they have no replacement. And giving the captaincy to a striker is problamatic. In the long run, this team is loaded with young talent, but they will have a down year if they don't find a good mix. So 'Boro, Bolton or we will have a remote possibility to sieze a CL spot. I think we could pull it off.

I still can't believe Wenger hasn't bought in a keeper!
Everyone in the world can see that that is there weak point.
They have no cash either.
Hahahaha....
We just got an extra £1.4 million to add to our warchest.

A great win by our boys. Didn't know suck a nice payday was involved. Even if we don't buy anyone in the summer, we can come in and make a key, expensive if need be, signing or two in the winter silly season and fill any gaps that develop. Thanks for the player reports, anybody got video of the goals?

I was really pleased with the tactics in this match, particularly how Jol used Mido and Reid. By having Reid playing deeper as a left mid, he got the space to use his left foot. When he has played further up as a winger he hasn't shown the pace to gain the yard of room to use his left, always has to cut back on the right. So in this game when Reid picked up the ball, Mido would go into the winger position and that's where the two Keano goals came from.
Routledge looks a great signing. The pace and skills are very nice, but I've been most impressed by his passing and final ball, it's top quality stuff.
Anthony Gardner's tackling and blocking has improved out of sight, he plays with a lot more aggression and quicker thinking. Uses his size well now.
Cerny was about our best player in this tournament I think. So quick and sharp off his line and composed at everything else.
I hope something can be sorted with Keane. Having him and Defoe competing for that striker spot is good for the club. I think it's worth keeping him to the end of the contract, if we have a strong season and get into Europe then there is every chance something can be worked out to keep him.
Edman has looked a weak point I'm afraid, even Bunje looked a better bet than him as left back...hopefully he's just having a tough preseason, otherwise the club will have to bring in an alternative.

not good about mendes. did he struggle out there today?
he's a favorite of mine, but is there really any need for that kind of reaction? - particularly in the pre-season. i don't see that playing terribly well with mr jol, who has other options in the middle, by the way.
edit: just saw on another thread that perhaps the reaction may have had more to do with a tackle than just with being subbed. and pedro seemed to be part of the victory celebration. any more word on his state of mind?

We definitely lose our balance when Tainio goes off.
Carrick doesn't have the option of playing the ball forward to his partner in midfield when Teemu's off.
Mendes stays put and so Carrick passes the ball sideways and not forward to his central midfield partner.
When TT goes off, we do look static in the centre of midfield.
That is why teams pile on the pressure, because without TT out there supporting Carrick, then midfield area remains very deep.

Yes I do not like Mendes and Carrick as a partnership, not dynamic enough and they both want to sit deep. I'm sure by the season starts it will be Mendes or Carrick not both, much like it's Defoe or Keane in the team.

...yes, Mendes will be Carrick's replacement. I want to see more of Marney. I would like him to be Tainio's replacement player.
I have said it since I watched him play in the reserves 2 seasons ago....Marney will become to us what Gerrard is to Liverpool.
Many of you will think I have completely lost the plot, but mark my words. If he can continue to progress, then he will become a true Spurs legend.
What are his main attributes at the moment?
Good passer
Get's stuck in
The lad can run
Has a thunderous shot
Is good at dead-ball situations
Doesn't that remind you of what Stevie Gerrard is doing at the moment?
As long as he keeps his head on the ground and make new goals in training every week, then he will become what I am sure he is destined to become.....A Legend.

Carrick has to start though, he makes us tick, Carrick and Taino in the midfield would be cool or Carrick or Huddlestone, Marney might be loaned out for next season to get some experiance.

I hope he (Marney) stays. If it is one of his goals to break into the first-team, then it will help his development.
If he keeps telling himself that he can play next to Carrick and that he'll show the coaching staff why they should pick him instead of the others, then that will drive him on.
He seems like a very determined young man.
If he continues, he will be our player of the year in the 07/08 season.
Does anyone agree with me or do you all think that I am a crazy coconut?
