Good job guys. Nothing better than watching a game to the groovy Samba beat.

BTW, congrats on the 3-0 win over FCD.

The samba band is a group from the University of Utah. I've heard rumors that the team pays them to be there. I'm not sure if there's any truth to it but they do add a nice touch to the games.

I've spoken with one of the group (called Samba Gringa) and according to him, they are paid to be there.

Are they the guys with big hair and green shirts?
They showed them a few times on FSN.

You are correct. Long/big hair and shirts of various shades of green.

Paid or not they do add to the atmosphere of the stadium. I'm glad they're there.

Who cares, if RSL draws a 20k average on its first year, that samba group is worth every peeny. They sound great on FSC!

Bardguy if you know them... how about telling them to:

A) Leave the chants to soccer fans (no more: Rey-Al, Rey-Al, Rey-al dronning please).

or

B) Do a little home work and learn some fricking chants.

The Samba beat is great but the only chant they ever do it the Real adnosium droning. That "chant" in my mind takes away from the game...

Yeah, I wish that I did know them. I just ran into a couple of them after one of the games and said that their drums sounded cool. I asked if they were a supporters club, and they said that they aren't, but they get paid to go and play. If I see them again, I'll pass along some of your feedback.

I actually invited them to stop by a tailgate and eat food and go over some chants... but they still haven't come by. I guess I just get sick of the same droning chant. However, their music is great...

it's along lines of Galaxy FO doing the balloons etc :D Good thing SLC has good groups without FO hiring people.

Hi -
Thanks for all the suppport. We just found this sight - the season is almost over, but we want to let everyone know that we are open to any suggestions, etc. that people may have. We'd love to learn some of your chants (most of our chants are based on Soccer chants we heard in Brazil). come over during the game or pre-game and talk to us.

We are a big group with many people, so I'm sorry we didn't hear about the invite to the tailgate party.

If anyone is interested in learning to play Brazilian Samba (or teaching us some chants), we teach a beginning class on Wednesdays from
7:00-9:00pm at the Marriot Center for Dance, University of Utah Campus. (Very close to the Stadium). The class is free, and instruments are provided.

Please share your feedback with us! We're happy to be playing at the games, and we hope to see you next season!

Thanks
Samba Gringa
