I just want to share a website I've been slaving over for some time now. It contains a map of England along with zoomed-in maps of larger cities and/or areas of England with more than one football club. The maps are HUGE and the site takes a LONG time to pull up even on broadband, but I think it's well worth it for passioniate football fans. I had wanted to find such a thing a while back, but unfortunately could not find it anywhere on the 'net. So I created it. It shows all Premiership, Coca Cola Football League, and Nationwide Football Conference teams, so there are quite a few teams shown. Each team's stadium is marked with a little soccer ball on the maps. Please let me know what you think, and let others know about it. Thanks much. The site is http://footballclubs.dyndns.org/

if you combined your site with the football ground guide (www.footballgroundguide.co.uk) it would be the best site ever.
that site has ground pictures and public transit info. yours has better maps and locations.

Your definetly bookmarked with me for when I plan my next trip to England.

doug001001, wow thanks for the feedback. I really did it out of an interest of mine to have some idea, geographically speaking, where in the world the actual stadiums are at. Being a Yank, I had no concept (although I love geography) that, for instance, Everton v Liverpool or Arsenal v Chelsea would be matchups between teams in the same city. As you saw, I found it quite a balancing act to keep the map size within reason and not have it TOO large (although it is quite large), yet at the same time be big enough that I could cram as many teams in as possible. The main England map is very busy and almost unmanageable, although the usage of layers gives the visitor a chance to hide/undide the soccer balls (stadium markers) and labels. I did my best to make it work. But the neat thing too is I went further and have zoomed-in maps of the larger cities and areas where there are multiple teams and then place the stadium markers on those maps. I got the address info from each respective team's official website (when possible), so it's as up-to-date as a month ago or so. I hope others get some good usage out of it. I didn't do it to charge money or anything, just as a challenge to myself and to help others. I really couldn't believe there wasn't already something like this out there. It was fun, as my loves are of course football (namely Arsenal), geography, and website design.

thx ilv2. Yeah, if I didn't love it so much that would have been torturous! At least I created it in PHP/mySQL and therefore it's database-driven. It was definitely a fun challenge! Now I'm just trying to share my hard work with other football fans around the world. If you can pass it along, I'd be grateful.

I've made some enhancements to the site. At the main map page, you can choose a club in the upper-left drop-down menu. Also, on page http://footballclubs.dyndns.org/footballclubs/allclubs.php you can select a city/area and just the clubs in that city/area will be displayed. On that page I also added links to the map location for each club. Let me know what you think.

Thank you, stinkypants. Gosh, never thought I'd ever say that! Too funny. I'm really happy people are giving me positive feedback on the site. Hope you find it useful. Please pass along to your friends and help me promote it.

I added some more functionality to it last night, by putting little "map" tabs on the left side of the club labels. It brings you to multimap, where you can easily select an aerial view too....really neat.

Thanks much.

It combines my nerdy interest in maps and my junkie like craving for sports (in this case, football, er, soccer, um, whatever ;) ).

Well done!!!!!

I hear ya, StillerFan. What's cool is that I've always been a Geography nut and have had a love of maps, plus have always loved football, plus love to do web design. What a trifecta! This required a massive amount of effort, but was well worth it. Please all pass the word, as I want to share my efforts with other passionate footballers.
