If he has hit it on the head, it's gonna be a fun ride this year. Man I hope he is right. I hope Crouch turns into a brilliant target man. I'm still not sure of the move, but he did make strides under Redknapp last season--so maybe Rafa can turn him into a holy terror.

Well, this makes me feel a lot better about the Crouch signing. Nice to hear a point of view from someone who actually knows the mechanics of the team. Thanks for the read! :)

Good article. I never really thought about the possibility of Crouch and Morientes playing together. It would be a partnership completley lacking pace, but it would give defenders other problems. Garcia or Gerrard would have get foward enough to link the midfield to the strikers. And we would need good play in the wide areas to get a lot of crosses in. Its interesting, but I'm not sure it would work.

I've been reading a ton of his articles on RAWK over the past few months. There are very few football writers around who possess the same analytical and researching abilities that he offers. He really is very good at his craft. Much respect Paul.

Ha, same here. Just reading that gives me shivers about what we can do next season. It will be interesting to see a squad full of guys built towards Rafa's taste, as opposed to Houllier holdovers.

I think the only place where we can play with crouch and morientes up front is at anfield. At anfield last year we used to make chances after chances with no one to finish them up-front.With crouch ,moro and most importantly zenden, gonzalez(guys who can realy beat defenders and once in a while get some VERY good balls into the area),well be deadly at anfield. But i still think cisse will be our goal scoring matchine this year.with loads to prove,he will be dealdy next season, with a point to prove to all the liverpool fans.Gerrard will be at his best this year, cause with all the speculation he was under last year it was impossible to be 110% out there in every game.
Ad im starting to think the ATL-Cisse partnership will be our deadliest next season for away games, but it think gerrard could easily play ATL role and put someone like momo or didi to cover up for alonso and do all the dirty work out there in the field.
This season does look bright for us,and if injuries dont get in our way i do see 2 or 3 trophies coming to anfield this season.

Au contraire, I think Crouch was brought to Anfield with very much the away games in mind. So be prepared for winning "ugly" away. Whether Crouch actually justifies the faith the manager has put in him, is what we're all eargely waiting to see. I bloody hope so-- those 11 away losses hurt us very badly and derailed our push for an automatic champions league place, never mind the championship.
