So I'm staying in Cinci next weekend (Blue Ash actually) with a bunch of High School age guys at a tournament.

Is there anything near there to do? Is there like a Jillians or a Dave & Buster's or something like that?

And how about mass-food places, like Spaghetti Warehouse kind of things? Anyone got any ideas for team meals and the like? (Sorry - gota be careful as we have some serious religious types - the coach got in trouble for swearing at a practice once, for example) so we gotta stay really white bread.

Anyone give me some help?

White bread? Hmmm. White bread comes from flour, which comes from corn.

Fermented corn seems to be a specialty right across the river, in Kentucky. I say Mint Julips are in order, nice and sweet, go down easily, kids won't even realize it until too late.

Minister types come out you: "Archer!! Is that whiskey?!!"

You isplain that this is cultural experience, it's not a mint julip, it's a mojito , from Cuba. :D

It's not "whitebread" but it's fantastic food at any time of day or night: Blue Ash Chili.

What kid can't devour a plate of chili cheese fries at the drop of hat?

One of may favs during the Xavier years.

There's the Kenwood Mall there close too that looks like it was designed by the guy who did Tuttle. I'm sure they have plenty of safe things to eat.

No, I really won't be able to.

I'll be too busy being laughed at by a bunch of High School kids who - even with the sorry state of the government-controlled school systems - are well aware that white bread is made from wheat flour.

Doh!! How disconnected I am from our nation's rural past/present.

Talk to me about sugar cane, though. I personally am a rum kinda guy. :o

Bill if you have time to golf you should really check out Blue Ash G.C. it's excellent, but it sounds like you'll be sheparding children the whole time. Foodwise there's the Montgomery Inn in Montgomery which is a big banquet type place with lots of memorabilia and A-1 ribs. Unfortunately, Blue Ash is about 15 miles out from the river but if you have time you could always bring the team down to Newport on the Levee in Newport, KY. There are plenty of dining and entertainment options there.

I'm going to Cinci on Thursday to see LBC play.

Zip's right; Newport's a nice place.

Edit: I remember when I was first taken there, and my friend was like, whelp we're in KY, and I was like "haha"... But we were. I had never known that Cinci was that close to KY. I blame it on the poor geography lessons I had growing up.

There is always someone else to blame for your own stupidity.

Lefty gets sent off in game #2 this morning, straight red, violent conduct.

Kid from the other team gets knocked down by somebody, gets up and punches Lefty, who apins around and goes nose to nose waiting for the call. Referee reds the opponent, then turns and reds Lefty for "being about to retaliate".

Lefty's normally quite level-headed and calm father goes absolutely ballistic. Field marshall tries to order him out of the complex. His father says they'd better call the police right now because I'm not moving anywhere.

Quite good excitement. Off to Montgomery Inn.

"Being about to retaliate"?!? WTF!?!?

"Being about to retaliate"?!? WTF!?!?

It's apparently a new rule, whereby the referee reads a players mind.

The interesting thing, as I quite helpfully explained to the tournament director, is that they were standing less than a foot away from each other. If anyone "intended" to hit someone, well, they would have hit them.

That was when the referee said that Lefty had "spun around and faced the opponent in an offensive manner".

I - using the polite and respectful tone you all know I use when talking to imbeciles - then asked the Referee Assignor to show me where in Law Twelve "Facing an opponent in an offensive manner" was described as a sending off offense.

He therewith told me to "get out of" his "face". He then stomped off, apparently to find a rule book.

FYI: They still have the sme pictures of odd-looking owner Ted Gregory with Bob Hope, Gerald Ford and everyone who ever played for the Reds.

Lefty hit the upper 90 on a DFK from about midfield on Friday night. Then had some chick from the hotel pool banging on his door at one AM.

Just like his Dad.

Well, except for the goals and the chicks/
