Picture it this way....

Ryan has his own www internet site. But this is a private internet site...analagous to an email account in the sense that only Ryan can access it unless he gives someone else his password...

Ryan owns some tunes that his friend Phishy likes. So Ryan uploads the tunes to his website. Then emails the link to Phishy so that he can log on to Ryan's website to download the tunes.

So this solves the problem of emailing them to phishy which would probably exceed his inbox capacity due to the size of the file.

Yet you are not uploading them for public access (i.e. bearshare, napster, etc).

Ok this is all I know about it, but since I usually download the files on my pc to avoid having any sort of p2p software on my laptop but I have to burn cd's on my laptop b/c my pc is ancient. So this is a convenient way to move stuff like that from one computer to another.

I've never done it, but my friend does. And her husband has been raving it to death...mainly because i made him suffer through guarding my laptop through some insanely long downloads...lol He's the computer guru so I just pretty much let him fcuk with it. But he and his friends do this with movies all the time.
