I wanted to know how far Greenwich University is from Stamford Bridge? My team is going to take a trip to England and Scotland to play against teams in the U.K and I was wondering how far Stamford Bridge is from Greenwich University (We are staying here)? Because if it isnt too far, I would consider walking over there and seeing the bridge. Thanks.

It would be one heck of a hike. Best bet would be to take the Underground. DLR to Tower Hill. District Line (towards Wimbledon) to Fulham Broadway.

Edit - looked it up on Mapquest. Roughly 10 miles one way to walk it...

Yep it is almost on the other side of London, a huge distance for us but I expect you drive that far for a cup of coffee in some parts of the US!
Given the directions above I would expect the journy to take about an hour to an hour and a half, The District line is not the fasted and tends to be shut quite a few weekends for a major upgrade to the track.

Depends what campus you are on...
But that would irrelevant because Greenwich is in SE and Kensington/Hammersmith is SW. A crossing of the Thames and then a good few miles hiking across the embankments up Putney - either that or you could explore the entire area of South London...
Or if you are lazy then get a taxi at a stupidly expensive price. You will be unlikely to find most local bus services that go from Greenwich to Kensington.
Best bet: Get on the Docklands Light Railway from Greenwich to Tower Gateway. This will leave you at the Tower of London. From here, hop onto the District Line (westbound) and straight to Fulham Broadway...
If you want something a bit more adventurous, then you could go under the Thames via the foot tunnel in Cutty Sark gardens and then hop on the DLR on the Isle of Dogs... Just a thought.
Hope this helps too:

You can't take the District Line straight through. You have to switch at Earl's Court to get a Wimbledon bound District Line train. If the guy stays on the District Line trains he gets onto near the Tower of London, he'll end up at Ealing Broadway.
I actually did this very train ride in April (never try to see Greenwich Observatory in the morning and make a 1:45 p.m. match, it's a harried experience).
The trip took slightly less than 90 minutes. But it's a good way to see a good portion of the underground system and the DLR. I found the DLR to be the biggest transportation pain-in-the-behind I've ever dealt with, however.

This is NOT TRUE there are Direct Ditstict Line services from Tower to Wimbledon.
Westbound District line trains go to 3 main destinations, Ealing Broadway, Richmomd and Wimbledon, you just have to watch the front of train/platform indicator.
Don't let my earlier post put you off, if you come allthis way to London a relitively short hop accross London is no problem.

Alright, apparently I was wrong. But I swear the entire two weeks I was in London last I never saw a Wimbledon bound train that far east. Of course it was probably because I was looking for one. Had I been only looking for Ealing Broadway ones, I would have seen dozens of Wimbledon bound ones.
Though you did forget one other destination: Edgeware Road.

Thanks. But you probably would rep me if you knew what I meant it to mean (well maybe negative rep me). :)

I kind of got the whole Fulham straight, Chelsea bent thing. If that's what you're talking about!

I think he means that Chelsea (the club) isn't really based in the Chelsea district/borough/whatever it's called in London, but in Fulham
