My question is not only when but ALSO where?
I am hoping either 2006/07 and hopefully Chicago is a destination. Preferably Soldier Field since the new Chicago Fire field will already be done in Bridgeview in early 06.

I am definately going to go with 2007, because I am hoping they will have Podolski by then. Also I don't know if Bayern would be willing to travel or atleast with a good squad next year because of the World Cup. Teams are much wiser and much more advertisable the more of their starting lineup they bring. It was evident and much appreciated the example Real had made. :D The venue I am hoping for will be Soldier Field, but I will have to see how the new Chicago Fire field turns out, I may like it in the end. Who knows as long as it is in Chicago sometime soon :D

Yea, it won't happen next year, if anything its 2007.
I wouldn't be surprised if they don't come back though.

I would usually assume after that quote that you are talking about Ballack since this is Bayern. BUT I would put my money on Karimi :D

Does anyone think they will just play other european clubs when they visit? Or will they face a hispanic team from Mexico, Central or South America? Or could they even face an MLS team? Or could it be a combination?
Either way I know I am going to be at every game in the US they visit :D No matter where it is in the US or Canada I will be there :)

Since Adidas is the new MLS sponsor, I would imagine that Bayern would come and at least play one MLS team. Adidas really has a lot invested in trying to promote MLS, so matches against their biggest clients couldn't hurt.

I'm hoping they'll play the Rochester Raging Rhinos when they open up their own soccer-specific stadium, Pae-tec Park!
A boy can dream, can't he?

i know this is a fairly old thread that i had started way back in the late summer/early fall. but i had read something on the site that leads me to believe that Bayern are coming to new york before the WC!!!! how come i can't find any news on any of the sites? how come ticketmaster isn't selling tickets? supposedly they are playing a match in New York. does anyone have any information. here is what i had read from the bayern site from the words from uli hoeness:
Hoeneß: "We'll spend the week celebrating, and we're looking forward to a wonderful festival with 70,000 spectators against Borussia Dortmund. We then want to settle next season's squad by 19 May. Then we're off to the USA for 10 days with the players we have left. We're playing in New York. After that, I'll watch the World Cup opening match in Munich, and then I'm going on holiday. I'm going to lie on the beach in the south of France and watch the World Cup from there."

The Metrostars are now the New York Red Bulls. I know Beckenbauer has had some dealings with them, though I am not sure particularly what he does for them?....and this is probably why they are playing this particular team.
Cool...just hope it's not like the ManU in Chicago fiasco

HEY!!! I don't care whose on the other side of the pitch in Chicago, if Bayern came I would go. Hell, if i knew a bit more in advance I would of saved some money so i would be able to go to New York :D I hope this Franz/USA connection continues and they makes stops close to annually for a week or so.

i must disappoint you, they will come to NY without all the Players who play the Worldcup and these are a lot
the german press still calls the NY Red Bulls, Metrostars.
btw. its also the former club from LODDAR :)

I know, I heard it was fairly boring a few years back, I unfortunately could not go, but if I could I would of even now knowing what I know what happened. BUT I have faith because AC Milan put on one hella good show when they took on the Chicago Fire. I easily got my moneys worth, the MLS players gave it their all it appeared and played better than they do in any MLS competition. AND AC Milan had almost all their players minus Schevchenko (had a minor knee scope around the time they came out), even Paulo Maldini made this beautiful cross from a good 40 yards away from the left flank just in front of me and the ball was headed in. I really enjoyed it a lot. I think it might of been because the MLS players had something to proove so they gave a lot more than they usually do, and the European guys had to put forth a better effort than they usually do in a friendly. Whenever there is a match between two superclubs it is almost meant to be a yawnfest, the only time they turn on the switch is in the CL and domestically. You know as well as me ManU and Bayern were not gonna put on a great match because neither would want to lose a player to some foolish injury that should of never happened in the first place.
